TEMPORARY Shop and Grounds Laborer

OPEN UNTIL FILLED

Compensation: $22.87 per Hour

Responsible for numerous maintenance activities including but not limited to:

GROUNDS MAINTENANCE:

Primary responsibility is to maintain the highway department grounds to a high maintenance standard. Specific tasks include:

• Mowing of highway department lawns on a weekly or twice weekly basis, including trimming and edging


• Irrigation of Highway Department grounds


• Fertilizing and chemical weed control of lawn and trees


• Daily inspection of Highway Department grounds for trash pickup;


• Weeding flower beds on weekly basis


• Sweeping sidewalks and parking lots


• Touchup painting


• Other related activities

SHOP MAINTENANCE:

• Perform general cleaning of all County Highway Shop spaces and vehicles as directed


• Perform daily inspection of the County Admin vehicle and wash/vacuum as required


• Pick up parts from various area vendors as directed


• Perform vehicle maintenance activities and maintenance of shop equipment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE NEEDED

• Must possess a valid driver’s license


• Minimum six months’ experience in lawn and grounds maintenance activities and the ability to operate various lawn and grounds maintenance equipment


• Ability to operate hot water power washer


• Ability to perform manual cleaning and maintenance activities


• Position requires prolonged standing, lifting up to 70 pounds, frequent bending, stooping and stretching

DESIRED/PREFERRED

Class A driver’s license; similar related experience.
