Temporary Stock Associate

The Farnsworth Art Museum in downtown Rockland, Maine seeks a Temporary Stock Associate to help with its retail store.

Status: Part Time Temporary 10-20 hrs, non-exempt, employment to terminate June 15th or at a date determined at time of hire.

General Description:

The primary role of the Stock Associate is to assist with the flow of inventory . This role includes receiving orders from the loading dock, moving the boxes into the shipping room, transporting inventory between buildings and assisting with ticketing and putting product on the shelves as directed by the Assistant Manager of Retail and Visitor Services. This role may also assist with online orders, packaging product to send to customers and other tasks as directed.

Responsibilities:  

•         Receive orders at the loading dock and deliver to shipping and receiving room

•         Support Assistant Manager with receiving and ticketing merchandise

•         Deliver orders to final destination according to guidelines

•         Maintain organized receiving and stockroom areas

•         Count and sort inventory of newly delivered and existing stock as needed  

•         Process interdepartmental requests and coordinate product pick-up for other departments 

•         Track status of any in-store customer pick-up orders 

•         Assist front-of-house admissions and retail store as needed 

Qualifications:  

• 3-6 months experience in shipping and receiving is preferred 

• Experience with order fulfillment and customer service  

• Must be organized with the ability to multi-task and problem solve as needed

• Ability to take direction and follow through to completion

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and move through the stores, stockrooms and the museum moving merchandise. Regularly required to sit, crouch, kneel, or climb including ladders, and stairs. Regularly required to move about the office; use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate materials including opening and unpacking merchandise. Regularly required to move merchandise outside from one store location to another, occasionally in inclement weather. The employee is required to lift up to 40 lbs. unassisted.
