Temporary Worship Pastor (4 month assignment)

Position Title: Worship Pastor (Worship Center) 
Reports To: Experience Pastor 
Team: Worship Arts / Experience Team 

Temporary Assignment - 4 months, with anticipated end date December 31, 2025

Position Overview 
The Worship Pastor provides spiritual leadership, vision, and oversight for the Worship Arts 
ministry at Central Wesleyan Church, with a primary focus on the Worship Center venue. This 
role is responsible for cultivating a healthy, Christ-centered worship culture, pastoring and 
developing volunteers, leading the worship arts staff, and ensuring clarity, excellence, and 
alignment in all aspects of the weekend worship experience. 
The Worship Pastor also contributes to the broader Water’s Edge Family of churches through 
songwriting, worship nights, and resourcing partner churches. 

Key Responsibilities 
Pastoral Leadership 
● Shepherd, disciple, and care for worship volunteers and staff through intentional rhythms 
of prayer, encouragement, and community. 
● Lead team devotionals during rehearsals, Sunday gatherings, and other ministry 
contexts. 
● Create a culture of belonging and family within the Worship Arts ministry, ensuring 
volunteers feel cared for beyond their musical contributions. 
● Encourage volunteer engagement in Central’s church-wide discipleship pathways 
(formations, groups, classes). 

Worship Culture & Direction 
● Champion a worship culture that is biblically grounded, Spirit-led, and aligned with the 
mission of Central: Amplifying the hope and life of Jesus by building His Church, forming 
His people, and reaching His world. 
● Plan and lead worship for Sunday morning services in the Worship Center, ensuring 
flow, engagement, and theological integrity. 
● Shape and maintain a seasonal song list that fosters congregational participation and 
spiritual growth. 
● Develop stage presence, platform communication, and worship leadership skills in team 
members. 

Team & Volunteer Oversight 
● Recruit, audition, train, and develop musicians and vocalists. 
● Maintain healthy scheduling rhythms (minimum 5 weeks out), ensuring clarity and 
consistency in Planning Center Online (PCO). 
● Provide feedback and coaching to team members (affirmations + growth points). 
● Organize rhythms of community and care for volunteers (family dinners, prayer 
gatherings, etc.). 

Staff & Ministry Leadership 
● Lead and develop the Worship Arts staff, fostering collaboration, clarity, and 
accountability. 
● Partner with the Experience Pastor to align worship with sermon series themes, spiritual 
practices, and overall service flow. 
● Collaborate with Tech, Guest Services, and Communications, and the rest of the 
experience team to ensure seamless worship experiences. 
● Along with the Experience team, help to oversee planning and execution of special 
services (Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving, etc.) and other ministry moments 
(Celebrate Recovery, staff gatherings). 

Creative Development & Water’s Edge Worship 
● Contribute to the vision and direction of Water’s Edge Worship through songwriting, 
recording projects, and worship nights. 
● Participate in worship nights and broader worship arts initiatives that extend beyond 
Central. 
● Resource Water’s Edge partner churches with worship leadership, systems, and 
coaching. 

Qualifications 
● A clear and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, marked by humility, integrity, and 
love. 
● Demonstrated ability to pastor and shepherd others with care and intentionality. 
● Strong musical proficiency (vocals and/or instruments), with proven experience leading 
corporate worship. 
● Effective communicator, both on and off the platform. 
● Organized and detail-oriented, with ability to manage projects, schedules, and teams. 
● Team builder with experience developing both volunteers and staff. 
● Alignment with Central’s mission and values, and commitment to the Wesleyan 
theological tradition.
