Territory Manager – Northern New Jersey


Position Overview


A leading global medical technology company is seeking a Territory Manager to support hospitals and healthcare providers throughout Northern New Jersey. This field-based position is responsible for expanding the adoption and utilization of a portfolio of surgical products used in the operating room.


The Territory Manager will manage existing accounts, identify and close new business opportunities, provide clinical education and procedural support, and develop strong relationships with surgeons, operating room personnel, hospital leadership, materials management, sourcing, and other key stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities



  • Achieve assigned territory sales, growth, and profitability objectives.

  • Develop and execute a strategic territory business plan focused on account growth and new customer acquisition.

  • Identify, target, and close new business opportunities within hospitals and healthcare systems.

  • Build productive relationships with surgeons, physicians, nurses, operating room staff, materials management, sourcing, and other clinical and administrative decision-makers.

  • Educate customers on the appropriate use and clinical application of surgical products.

  • Provide on-site technical and procedural support within the operating room.

  • Conduct product demonstrations, clinical education programs, and hospital in-services.

  • Promote consistent and effective product utilization among trained surgeons and clinical staff.

  • Maintain current knowledge of the company’s product portfolio, clinical applications, sales channels, and distribution methods.

  • Develop a strong understanding of competitive products, pricing, distribution, contracting strategies, strengths, and weaknesses.

  • Monitor market conditions, competitive activity, account developments, and customer needs.

  • Communicate relevant market intelligence and account updates to sales leadership and internal business partners.

  • Address customer questions and concerns promptly and professionally.

  • Maintain accurate and current account records, opportunity information, and sales-funnel activity.

  • Use account potential, purchasing patterns, geography, and competitive circumstances to prioritize territory activity.

  • Complete required reports, documentation, and administrative responsibilities accurately and on time.

  • Manage travel and business expenses within the established budget.

  • Attend customer meetings, industry conferences, and trade shows as needed.

  • Partner effectively with sales leadership, marketing, sales training, national accounts, contracts, customer service, and fellow field sales representatives.

  • Maintain demonstration equipment and promotional materials in a professional and organized condition.


Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Minimum of three years of relevant sales experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop new business and grow existing customer relationships.

  • Ability and willingness to work within an operating room environment.

  • Ability to travel approximately 50%, including occasional overnight travel.

  • Valid driver’s license with at least three consecutive years of driving history.

  • Ability to meet applicable company motor-vehicle and background-check requirements.

  • Must reside within or near the assigned Northern New Jersey territory.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer-sponsored visa assistance.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Medical device, surgical, or operating room sales experience.

  • Documented history of successful sales performance, including rankings, awards, quota attainment, or other measurable results.

  • Experience selling clinically differentiated products to physicians and hospital stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to prospect, develop new accounts, and close business in a competitive market.

  • Understanding of consultative and needs-based selling methodologies.

  • Strong clinical aptitude and ability to communicate technical information effectively.

  • Established relationships within hospitals or healthcare systems in Northern New Jersey.

  • Experience working with surgeons, nurses, key opinion leaders, materials management, sourcing, and hospital leadership.

Compensation and Benefits


The anticipated base salary range for this position is $83,100–$133,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based on relevant experience, education, skills, qualifications, and geographic location.

Additional Information


This is a full-time, field-based position supporting Northern New Jersey. Relocation assistance is not available.
