ESS TEST CENTER COORDINATOR


POSITION OBJECTIVES: The Test Center Coordinator is responsible for managing all aspects of assessments within the middle school for students with accommodations. This includes planning, organizing, and overseeing the administration of assessments for students with accommodations, ensuring compliance with all testing regulations, maintaining security protocols, and accurately reporting test irregularities. The coordinator will work closely with teachers, administrators, and students to facilitate a smooth and efficient testing process including keeping up and updating schedules as well as communication with administrators if there is a need. 


QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS:  The employee is a Christian with an authentic and mature personal relationship with Jesus Christ in both their professional and personal life, with a calling and commitment to Christian education.  This individual must be a “teacher” at heart, with the desire and ability to work closely with individual students for the benefit of improving academic skills, knowledge and understanding of material. As well, maintaining confidentiality in a tactful manner, being able to take directions from administrators and appropriate grade-level teachers, and demonstrating flexibility in daily routines are required for this position.  The employee must also model Christian character at all times, and actively promote and comply with the educational philosophy of Heritage Christian School. In addition, the ability to establish and nurture positive relationships with all members of the HCS community, demonstrate respect for others, exhibit professional discernment and good judgment are essential to this role.


EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  A high school diploma is required, and a Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field is desired.  Prior teaching experience with students is highly recommended. Experience with Google Suites is preferred.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:  



  • Administer placement testing to new students to assist in placing them in the appropriate grade and classes.

  • Work with students, one on one and in small groups, to provide better understanding of assessments assigned by their teachers, providing patient, sensitive and applicable instructional assistance regarding assessments as appropriate.

  • Provide support to the ESS department by reading or proctoring tests to students as assigned and requested.

  • Discuss assigned work with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts.

  • Communicate student progress information to supervisors, teachers and students, as needed. 

  • Supervise students during testing each period and other designated times throughout the day.

  • Ensure a positive classroom learning environment through adherence to school determined policies and procedures governing students.

  • Establish and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with others to ensure effective and efficient communication occurs especially as it concerns student academic needs.

  • Attend meetings and in-service training as required by the supervisor.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, which remains stationary for extended periods of time; moving up to 20 pounds.; navigating the classroom; monitoring student behavior; communicating and exchanging information, positioning oneself to assist students. 


WORK ENVIRONMENT:  Generally indoors; potential for change in temperature/humidity; potential for excessive noise; using computer/monitor screen; generally works around or with others. Some exposure to the elements may be experienced while assisting with passing periods.


EXEMPT STATUS:  Non-exempt, hourly


 


WORK SCHEDULE:  The standard work day will be 7:30 am – 3:30 pm, and the schedule will follow the student academic calendar.  This position is expected to work a few days to complete all job duties prior to the start of school and following the close of school, as deemed necessary by the administration. Position is designed to have specific responsibilities during each of the eight (8) class periods during the school day.  


BENEFIT CATEGORY:  Hourly, 10 month, full time
