Summary
Lead Analyst supporting the strategic development and financial assessment of new concepts. This individual will provide financial consulting and strategic support to senior management including valuation analyses from ideation to business case creation, industry/peer group comparisons, new business opportunity analysis, investment analysis, preparing corporate presentations, financial presentations, and other projects requested by senior management. This function will act as the analytical engine of the KCNSC to provide insights and support optimal strategic decision making. This role will have visibility to Executive Leadership.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Build out the analysis of the pipeline of potential strategic opportunities for the KCNSC.
- This can range from process improvements to $100 million dollar emerging initiatives.
- Evaluate strategic proposals for market/demand valuation, return on investment, return on capital, and analysis of alternatives.
- Review new market and partnerships for strategic opportunities and oversee implementation of management intent, working with leadership to address project priority.
- Independently and collaboratively develop detailed financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives and new market/demand proposals.
- Prepare sensitivity analyses of models to support scenario construction and interrogation.
- Continuously improve performance by evaluating opportunity-related processes to capture lessons learned for use in existing and future projects.
- Develop and deliver informative, well-organized, executive-level presentations and business cases.
- Research and implement dashboard reports that summarize the pipeline and return pipeline from ideation to execution.
- Interface with other agencies and communities to monitor flow and participate in meetings with potential partners or new market/demand representatives.
- Lead development of strategic analyses of key initiatives, such as emerging strategies. Support development of materials used for KCNSC leadership meetings, or meetings where KCNSC leadership is presenting to other leadership groups (e.g.) Strategic Plan/Annual Operating Plan, Government, etc.). Work with leadership team on special projects and presentations as needed.
- Work closely with the finance team on data analysis, including financial, client, and market data to identify opportunities and trends.
You Must Have
- Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, Finance or related field
- 7 or more years of experience
- Ability to travel up to 5% of the time
- United States Citizenship
- Ability to work on-site as directed by management and as determined by the needs of the business
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)
We Value
- At least 5 years of corporate/government business case analysis experience and at least 3 years’ experience in new venture analysis
- MBA preferred
- Prior experience in financial analysis or strategy consulting is highly desirable.
- Articulate with excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maneuver through unstructured problems and create the necessary structure to deliver results.
- Must have a demonstrated ability to work well in a cross functional team, to multi-task and to thrive in an unstructured environment.
- Strong analytical skills; ability to determine data needs and analysis approaches to resolve issues and inform decision-making.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work on multiple projects at once, appropriately prioritizing and managing time
