Overview:

Expression is looking for an Electromagnetic Spectrum Subject Matter Expert (EMSO SME) and Test Engineer. You will support the strategic direction on our Software Test practices at our client site in Annapolis, MD, as well as technical direction and design requirement clarification to agile development teams, integration, and test personnel. You will perform technical analysis and define how the system works creating use cases, decomposing requirements, defining system interfaces, and helping determine how requirements will be validated and verified by the test team. You will participate in daily integration meetings, and collaborate with technical staff and external stakeholders/clients to determine test strategies in an iterative environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews, de-conflicts, and captures equipment certifications information, equipment characteristics database information, system allocations, assignments, and performs spectrum coordination.
  • Possess proficient knowledge in DoD spectrum-dependent systems and military communications, familiar with spectrum databases and data collection, research, engineering analysis, and data entry of derived data parameters from multiple data sources.
  • Assist with operational system fault detection/fault isolation and coordinate corrective action with local and distance support assistance
  • Accurately represent EMSO needs to the project/program team
  • Validate the requirements and deliverables that describe the product(s) or service(s) that the project/program will produce
  • Participate in exercise support activities alongside the military
  • Participating in the steering and development of EMBM architecture, processes, data standards, and KPP/KSAs
  • Bring information about the project/program back to the customer community
  • Executes the testing strategy to ensure automated or manual testing is implemented efficiently to guarantee high-quality delivery
  • Author project test plan, test scenarios, and design detailed test cases from user stories, requirements, etc.
  • Participate and influence the Hardware/Software environments needed to deliver the test strategy
  • Study the data gathered during testing event and evaluate the validity of the results making recommendations for improvement from procedural and test data
  • Define the standard tools and processes for test automation and regression testing
  • Write, develop, and execute test scripts to thoroughly test software, ensuring proper operation and freedom from defects
  • Participate in daily scrum meetings, sprint planning, sprint retrospective, and backlog grooming meetings with Agile team members to support cross-functional teams and execute testing for multiple ongoing projects concurrently
  • Perform testing and analysis until results are within product requirements and specifications.
  • Perform manual test execution within the testing framework guidelines
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, developers, product owners, and other team members to fully understand the requirements, ensuring high-quality standards are kept during all phases of the software development life cycle
  • Draft technical reports to present findings; based on findings, recommend modifications needed to correct production problems.
  • Follow established test processes and test methods to ensure efficient and effective testing
  • Carry an organizational mindset to build teams aligned with strategic company objectives

Requirements:

  • Top Secret Security Clearance (TS/SCI)
  • Experience within or working with the DoD Expertise with current Microsoft productivity applications (Word, Excel, PPT)
  • 5+ years of experience in EMS-related industry
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in engineering (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM fields)
  • At least 4+ years of planning/developing test cases, authoring test cases, managing test execution, and QA reporting
  • Experience with Selenium and test automation tools
  • Experience in a modern web stack environment
  • Experience in leading and driving both manual and automated testing strategies
  • Experience with security testing (roles, permissions, etc.)
  • Knowledge of QA Best Practices
  • Highly knowledgeable in the complete Software Development Life Cycle including experience with Agile methodologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to discuss product flaws in a constructive and positive manner with all levels of management, individual contributors, and the customer
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Highly Desired:

  • Experience working with Federal government contracts
  • Proven experience with systems modernization and automation that resulted in value creation and streamlining of processes
  • Experience with MBSE
  • Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Jira, Zephyr, and other testing/management tools

Location:

  • This is a hybrid role at the Joint Spectrum Center in Annapolis, MD with onsite work a few times per week and 5% traveling required.
