Overview
1. Constructs and fabricates costumes, lighting, props, sets and sound designs through use of appropriate theatre techniques. 2. Creates stage-worthy costumes from patterns using appropriate technology and fabrics. Fits and alters costumes. 3. Creates costumes from designer’s sketches by pulling and altering existing costumes from stock. 4. Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings and plots. Develops sketches and schematics. 5. Handles all aspects of traditional and contemporary scenic art utilizing all standard painting media based upon scenic renderings, models and samples. 6. Communicates with appropriate personnel to provide and obtain information relating to materials and methods to execute designs. 7. Operates appropriate theatrical equipment and tools and maintains general upkeep of facilities, shop, tools and equipment. 8. May participate in load-in and strike of productions. 9. May oversee and instruct support staff. 10. May order materials and supplies and provide budget input. 11. Complies with theatre’s health and safety standards. 12. Performs other functions incidental to theatre activities as needed/requested.
