Job Summary
Position is responsible for providing therapeutic recreation services to rehabilitation patients.Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Administration; or related field
Licenses/Certifications: Certification with the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
Principal Accountabilities
Delivers appropriate therapy at a competent level and according to the needs of age of the patient/patient population served.
Performs initial evaluation of patients to determine appropriate plan, plans recreational activities; necessary arrangements for space, materials and transportation, and notifying members of the multi-disciplinary team; leads/co-leads leisure groups and activities.
Maintains required departmental records including written evaluation, weekly progress notes and participation in activities; maintains listing of community resources; assesses daily charges for assigned patients.
Presents relevant special topics in professional literature at clinic meetings, grand rounds, conferences, university settings and meetings as delegated or requested by the faculty
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
