Position Summary
The Therapist & Care Coordinator provides clinical oversight, therapeutic case management, and direct mental health services for youth residing in the residential homes at Seamark Ranch. This role blends comprehensive care planning with individual and family therapy, focusing on trauma-informed healing and family reunification.
Additionally, this position works closely with and reports to the Clinical Director, receiving clinical guidance and supervision related to assessments, treatment planning, and complex cases. This role also supports the Clinical Director in fostering community-based therapy through strategic collaborations with church partners, ensuring a faith-informed care model is integrated into all clinical and outreach efforts.
Essential Functions
Direct Clinical Practice & Assessment
- Individual & Family Therapy: Provide evidence-based individual therapy and lead family therapy sessions with a focus on healing relational wounds and facilitating reunification when possible.
- Comprehensive Assessment: Conduct assessments of each resident’s emotional, behavioral, social, and family functioning; identify trauma history, risk factors, strengths, and support needs.
- Clinical Collaboration: Meet regularly with the Clinical Director for case consultation and collaborate on complex clinical presentations or safety concerns.
Care & Treatment Planning
- Develop individualized care plans that address emotional, behavioral, relational, and developmental needs.
- Review and update care plans regularly based on resident progress and team feedback.
- Consult with the Clinical Director to ensure care plans reflect best practices and appropriate clinical interventions.
Child Advocacy & Emotional Support
- Serve as a consistent advocate for youth, ensuring their perspectives are included in decision-making.
- Support youth in processing family dynamics, trauma experiences, and emotional challenges.
- Provide guidance to residential staff (house parents) on trauma-informed approaches to behavioral and relational support.
Church & Community Collaboration
- Ministry Partnership: Assist the Clinical Director in developing and maintaining therapeutic partnerships with local church partners.
- Community Outreach: Support the implementation of community-based therapy initiatives or support groups involving church collaboration.
- Clinical Bridge: Serve as a clinical resource for faith-based partners to ensure trauma-informed standards are upheld in community settings.
Transition & Permanency Planning
- Assist with planning transitions including reunification, foster placement, adoption, or independent living.
- Collaborate with the Clinical Director and leadership team regarding long-term planning for each resident.
Documentation, Compliance & Support
- Clinical Records: Maintain accurate clinical documentation and case records meeting professional, regulatory, and organizational standards (HIPAA).
- Professional Support: Seamark Ranch provides Professional Liability Insurance for clinical activities and, for Registered Interns, provides the Clinical Supervision hours required for Florida licensure.
- Professional Development: Maintain licensure or work toward requirements; participate in training provided by the Clinical Director and utilize provided funds for CEUs and licensure renewals.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Florida licensure (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT) or registered intern working toward licensure.
- Experience working with children, trauma, foster care, or residential programs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with youth, families, staff, and community partners.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and sound judgment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care, child development, and behavioral support strategies.
- Ability to respond calmly and appropriately in crisis situations.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout campus for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to use a computer and standard office equipment.
- Ability to respond promptly to crisis situations.
Work Environment & Schedule
This position works primarily in an office and residential campus setting. Schedule is generally Monday through Friday during normal business hours, with flexibility for occasional evenings or weekends for family therapy or church partnership activities.
