Therapist Trainee

Primary Purpose and Function

The Therapist Trainee provides direct service to clients including individual, couple/family and group psychotherapy, consultations and crisis intervention

Essential Functions and Responsibilities 

• Co-facilitate individual and family therapy sessions with clients 
• Co-Facilitate groups
• Assist in creating and updating treatment plans
• Assist in completing biopsychosocial and other assessments as needed
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team for discharge planning
• Crisis Intervention as needed
• EMR Documentation and compliance with TJC Standards and state licensing requirements
• Other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director and CEO

Core Competency (minimum skills, knowledge and experience needed to perform essential functions and responsibilities)

1. Knowledge of substance use and mental health treatment, family systems and 12 step recovery resources in the community
2. Psychoeducational group facilitation
3. Group notes
4. Therapeutic interventions
5. Crisis management
6. Should possess a professional demeanor and a collaborative spirit.
7. Have a general understanding and/or training in cultural diversity issues.

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently in a masters program working towards becoming a registered AMFT, ASW, APCC, etc.
• One year of experience in a behavioral health treatment facility is preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally with clients, administration.
