Therapist/Crisis Counselor - Child Advocacy Center

Come join our team of professionals and put your skill and experience to work helping children and families through the critical services the WCAC provides! Catholic Charities Washtenaw County has an immediate opening for a full-time crisis counselor therapist within the Washtenaw Child Advocacy Center (WCAC). 

POSITION OVERVIEW

• Provide crisis intervention, short-term support, court preparation and information/referral services to child sexual abuse victims and their non-offending family members.  


• Conduct individual crisis counseling or intervention sessions with children and non-offending caregivers during and immediately following forensic interview


• clinically assesses immediate emotional, psychological, and physical needs of victims and their families and provides appropriate information and referrals


• Create and maintain forms, brochures, educational materials, and referral resources for children and family


• Provide follow-up services

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice or related field, plus two years’ experience in the area of child abuse, crisis intervention, trauma informed therapy, child development and/or the criminal justice system preferred.


• Ability to work calmly, effectively, and objectively with children and families experiencing traumatic, high-intensity situations with varying degrees of emotional trauma/upset.


• Ability to effectively relate to children, as well as a general client population from diverse ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• Competitive, hourly/benefit-eligible, depending on caseload (prorated based on FTE). Must be able to maintain minimum weekly required caseload/minimum required FTE to be eligible for benefits.


• $1,250 Welcome bonus. (Some restrictions apply)
