Title One Reading Teacher

Christel House Indianapolis is currently seeking a Title One Reading Teacher at Academy West.

Days of Service: 192 Days

Job Tasks:

• Utilize school curricular resources to plan, internalize, and deliver engaging small group literacy intervention lessons 
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies.
• Demonstrate a desire for working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
• Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, conduct home visits, schedule student-led conferences, and promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
• Participate in appropriate professional activities
• Ability and willingness to work collaboratively; maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships
• Other duties assigned.

Requirements:

• Valid IN Teaching License
• Bachelor’s degree
• Competency in using technology in the classroom setting
• Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
• A strong belief in the mission and goals of Christel House Schools

Preferred Experiences/Credentials:

• Experience teaching explicit science of reading-aligned early literacy lessons (i.e. Amplify CKLA Skills, UFLI, Orton Gillingham etc.)
• Indiana Early Literacy Endorsement
