Tool and Die Repairman

We are seeking a skilled Tool & Die Repair Technician to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for repairing, rebuilding, and maintaining casting and trim dies to ensure smooth and efficient production. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, the ability to read blueprints, and hands-on experience with die maintenance and repair.

Key Responsibilities

• Repair, rebuild, and maintain casting and trim dies to original specifications.
• Transport, clean, disassemble, repair, and reassemble dies using lift trucks, cranes, and die cleaning equipment.
• Build and replace die segments, cores, details, and components from blueprints.
• Draw polish and grind die cavity surfaces using specialized tools and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and correct tooling problems, including stuck castings, dimensional issues, and die adjustments while mounted on machines.
• Perform welding duties in both the foundry and the die repair department.
• Complete work orders, documentation, and records accurately.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
• Provide training and guidance to new employees.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervision.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Associates Degree, trade or technical school certificate, or Journeyman equivalent preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in tool & die repair, die maintenance, or related manufacturing environment (will consider candidates completing on-the-job training).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Proficient in die polishing, grinding, and welding.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to safely operate cranes, forklifts, and other equipment as needed.

Preferred

• Tool & Die Repair Journeyman Papers (not required).
• Previous experience training or mentoring team members.
