This position is located in Clearfield, Utah.\n\nThis position will support the A Shift: Monday \u2013 Thursday, 6:30 AM \u2013 4:00 PM; every other Friday, 6:30 AM \u2013 3:30 PM, with every alternate Friday off. The noted schedule is approximate and includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.\n\nOur team supports design and integration of tooling to support Aerospace composite part fabrication, handling, and assembly for the commercial and defense aerospace industries. Engineers get the opportunity to manage their work from design concept thru implementation. Our Tooling Team works independently, but interacts closely with safety, engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to achieve expectations.\n\nPrimary Responsibilities:\n\n * Manages and supports integration of new tooling from design through sustainment\n\n * Supervises and supports critical production builds involving technical tooling processes\n\n * Provides communication to Integrated Product Team (IPT) leaders regarding cost and schedule including escalation of any technical issues.\n\n * Works intimately with Manufacturing engineering to deliver tools that meet product build requirements.\n\n * Recommends and often leads continuous improvement activities to support cost savings and cost avoidance targets.\n\n * Manages external Tooling Design/Fabrication Shops on Design/Build projects\n\n * Proofs tooling upon receipt in a production environment\n\n * Uses Microsoft applications to communicate and present tooling progress\n\n\n\n\nSecondary Responsibilities:\n\n * Supports the tool design group with design projects and tasks which include 3D modeling, 2D drafting and checking\n\n * Concepts and designs special tooling within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) structure\n\n * Uses and/or manages Computer Aided Design (CAD) resources for tooling design (primarily NX)\n\n * Witnesses/approves source inspection of special tooling at supplier locations before acceptance\n\n * Provides tooling cost/schedule estimates for new tools and or tooling modifications\n\n\n\n\nOur team enjoys a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, diverse assignments, and collaboration with internal and external customers. We pride ourselves in coming up with new ways to provide tooling that is safe, cost effective, and operationally efficient.\n\nThis role may be filled at the Tooling Engineer (Level 2) or Principal Tooling Engineer (Level 3) based on the qualifications outlined below.\n\nBasic Qualifications:\n\nTooling Engineer (Level 2)\n\n * Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the needs of the business\n\n * Bachelors Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and a minimum of 1 years of relevant engineering experience; or Masters Degree in STEM discipline and 0 years of engineering experience\n\n * Experience in design, fabrication and implementation of tooling used in the manufacture of composite parts\n\n * Experience in project management and communication skills\n\n * Experience with general metallic fabrication including welding and machining\n\n * Experience with 3D CAD systems\n\n\n\n\nPrincipal Tooling Engineer (Level 3)\n\n * Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the needs of the business\n\n * Bachelors Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and a minimum of 4 years relevant engineering experience; or Masters Degree in STEM and 3 years\u0027 engineering experience; or PhD and 0 years of engineering experience\n\n * Experience in design, fabrication and implementation of tooling used in the manufacture of composite parts\n\n * Experience in project management and communication skills\n\n * Experience with general metallic fabrication including welding and machining\n\n * Experience with 3D CAD systems\n\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * BS in Mechanical, Aerospace or Civil Engineering\n\n * Active DoD Secret Security Clearance\n\n * Experience in a manufacturing environment\n\n * Experience with tooling for composites manufacturing and handling\n\n * Experience in design of molds, machining fixtures, handling, and assembly tools for composite manufacturing\n\n\n\n\nWhat We Offer:\n\nAt Northrop Grumman, we are on the cutting edge of innovation -- building the next generation of sophisticated aircraft to protect our country. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
