Job Description - TPO Mortgage Equity Underwriter II
Description
The TPO Mortgage Equity Underwriter II evaluates mortgage and home equity loan applications up to $500K, within credit union guidelines with the goal of minimizing risk or loss to the credit union. This role balances risk management with production goals while partnering with loan officers to deliver timely, high-quality underwriting decisions.
Here's what you can expect from the job and what you need to be successful:
Job Duties:
Review and verify the accuracy of collateral details, down payment, employment profile, credit strength and all other pertinent loan documentation and information
Approve or reject loan applications based on internal and investor guidelines
Recognize, structure, present and approve additional loan opportunities to maximize Partner Loan Officer benefits
Provide risk guidance to loan officers, processors and management on loan scenarios and respond to underwriting questions
Provide adverse actions according to relevant regulatory loan guidelines
Managing & responding to Partner Loan Officer UW inquires on loan scenario & TPO guidelines
One-off self-employment reviews
Essential Skills:
Minimum 2 years’ mortgage underwriting experience
Familiar with standard practices for reviewing and analyzing self-employment and rental income documentation
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to resolve complex issues with minimal direction
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to express ideas concisely and logically
Ability to balance productivity and speed to meet service levels with quality underwriting
Working knowledge of investor and industry standard underwriting concepts, practices, guidelines and procedures
Familiarity with loan origination software is preferred
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Minimum Education: High School Diploma
Location: Hillsboro Corporate Office | Hillsboro, OR 97124
Target Compensation in Hillsboro, OR: $37.96 to $43.67 per hour + annual bonus
