POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Tractor Operator – Okeechobee Waterway

DEPARTMENT: Community Contracts

DIVISION: Human Services

RESPONSIBLE TO: Project Manager – Okeechobee Waterway

SUPERVISES: No direct reports

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
JOB CODE: HHS11-04

SCOPE:

Perform functions to drive gasoline or diesel powered tractor to: move materials, draw implements, tow-trailers, pull out objects embedded in ground, or pull cable of which to raise, lower or load heavy material or equipment; and contribute to the mission of Goodwill by maximizing the opportunities for participants with disabilities and other barriers to become more independent.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Operate tractor in a safe and efficient manner in order to fulfill scheduled duties.
2. Perform daily maintenance inspection and service to tractor.
3. Fasten attachments, such as mowers, graders, plows, seeders and disc harrows to tractor.
4. Ensure actions and words communicate superior internal and external customer service.
5. Perform or assist with any assignments as required or directed.

1. Demonstrate by words and actions a commitment to the Goodwill mission to help people with disabilities and other barriers to become self-sufficient, working members of the community.
2. Perform or assist with any duties or operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
3. Maintain safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules, keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition.
4. Participate in any variety of meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.

 KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

1. Must have a valid Florida driver’s license, valid insurance, reliable transportation for travel to outlying locations and the ability to be insured under the company’s vehicle insurance policy.
2. Minimum one (1) year relevant experience
3. Working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Regular exposure to extreme temperature.
2. Ability to lift and carry in excess of 30 lbs.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:Use tractor, batwing mower and other attachments, equipment and safety equipment.
