Tractor-Trailer Technician

Leonard's Express in Eau Claire, WI is looking for an experienced Tractor-Trailer Technician to join our team.  If you have a strong background in diagnosing and repairing truck and trailer issues, we want to hear from you!  

All job duties must be performed in a way that promotes safe practices in accordance with Leonard’s established safety programs.

Duties

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical trailer malfunctions
• Utilize gauges, special tools and specialized equipment to diagnose mechanic failure and problems, can operate shop equipment
• Ability to complete all PM’s on vehicles and trailers
• Installs and/or adjusts brakes, replace linings, drums, cams and bushings
• Replaces broken parts
• Operate vehicle to diagnose problems and validate that repairs have been completed
• Complete wheel alignment installs and balance wheels
• Constructs, maintains or services shop equipment when necessary
• Follow all safety protocols to include wearing protective gear and maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Provides quality repairs and achieves time per repair standards
• Maintains compliance to parts procedures
• Takes direction from Foreman willingly
• Performs other related duties as assigned

• Provides positive driver interaction, listens and answers maintenance issue questions
• Sound organizational, records management, time management skills, and attention to detail
• The ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities, meet assigned deadlines, and manage the related stress
• The ability to work independently for the majority of the time and ask for help when needed

Requirements

Education, Experience, and Other Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience with 53’/48’ equipment with component training certifications or trailer tech certifications
• Working knowledge of suspension system including air bags
• Own basic set of tools
• Brake certification, we can provide
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Physical and manual dexterity skills
• Basic computer skills

Physical and Environmental

The Tractor-Trailer Technician is primarily located in a work environment with loud noise level. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions and extreme cold (non-weather). Physical requirements include:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds with assistance
• Must be on time for all scheduled shifts and work all scheduled days
