Job Description - Trade Development Representative - Nakuru, Eldoret & Mombasa

Poa! internet is the fastest growing and highly innovative ISP in Kenya. The company was founded in 2014 with a vision to provide internet in every home in Africa. At poa! We believe by empowering people, we can actively drive digital inclusion in these markets. We deploy a cost-effective internet service in Kenya, with the aim of providing affordable access to content and Internet to low-income members of society.


 


We are growing very fast to cover the rest of Kenya and eventually Africa. It is envisaged that the success of the business will grow to over 150 networks across East Africa. It is from this background that we seek prospective candidates to fill the role of  Trade Development Representative-  in our Agency Sales Department.

Mission Statement for the Role:


Recruit and develop a highly efficient team of commission-only sales agents to meet the sales objectives of the organization.



Territories:


Nakuru, Eldoret & Mombasa.


 


Role Responsibilities:



  1. Implement strategies to recruit and onboard a high-performing team of commission-only sales agents. 

  2. Maintain an active and effective team of commission-only sales agents at all times through continuous pipeline development.

  3. Ensure the team consistently meets or exceeds monthly sales targets through structured planning and execution.

  4. Provide ongoing coaching, motivation, and performance management to agents to achieve individual and team sales goals.

  5. Track and report on sales metrics and agent performance.

  6. Ensure all physical outlets are fully equipped with Point of Sale (POS) materials at all times and are regularly reviewed for 100% compliance.


Academic Qualifications required:


Certificate, Diploma, or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.


 


Key competencies required for the role:  



  1. History of recruiting and managing exceptional high performing commission-only sales agents while delivering results, including : Retail agents/dealers, foot soldiers and centre of influence people.

  2. Proven track record of exceeding the sales targets by leading a commission-only model.

  3. Experience working full-time in in the field, demonstrating / observing sales processes for efficiencies.

  4. Should be adaptable, open to learning, and able to adjust strategies to meet changing customer needs and market conditions.

  5. Good knowledge of agency sales model and must demonstrate understanding of how to manage, motivate and drive performance through agents and indirect channels.

  6. Staying informed about industry trends, competitors, and the latest advancements in home internet space in Kenya.

  7. Should be able to manage the entire sales process efficiently, from initial contact to post-sale referral leads.


Mandatory criteria with no exceptions to hire:



  1. Must have led a team of Commission Sales Agents and delivered high sales numbers.

  2. Must have demonstrated training and development opportunities to help agents improve their sales skills. This includes product knowledge training, sales techniques, and objection handling.

  3. Must possess good analytical skills: Ability to analyze sales data, trends, and performance metrics, and use the data to make informed decisions and optimize sales strategies.
