Description:

• Traffic Control: Direct vehicles, pedestrians, and heavy equipment safely around or through construction sites, ensuring a controlled and steady flow of traffic.


• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all company, local, and federal safety regulations and protocols to minimize risk to workers, drivers, and pedestrians.


• Follow Directions: Take direction from the lead or foreman in regard to assignments and job duties such as adjusting flagging positions, traffic patterns, and safety procedures as needed.


• Set-Up and Tear-Down: Assist in setting up and removing cones, barricades, signs, and other traffic control devices.


• Communication: Use hand signals, flags, or other communication tools to effectively manage and communicate traffic flow and alert team members to any hazards.


• Monitor Site Conditions: Remain aware of site conditions and report any hazards or issues to the lead or foreman promptly.


• Foster Teamwork and Respect: Maintain positive working relationships with co-workers by showing respect, fostering teamwork, and supporting a collaborative and professional work environment.


• Documentation: Complete any required documentation, such as incident reports or site logs, as directed by the lead or foreman.


• Weather Readiness: Be prepared to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.


• Current flagging certification as required by state or local regulations.


• Ability to stand for extended periods and work in outdoor environments.


• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.


• Clear communication skills.


• Ability to take and follow instructions effectively from site leadership.

Physical Requirements:

• Work Environment:
  Outdoor asphalt paving and highway construction setting, including occasional night work, with exposure to uneven terrain, dust, dirt, and varying weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, and rain.


• Proximity Hazards: Must be alert and able to work safely near construction equipment & public traffic.


• Standing & Walking: Must have the stamina and physical capability to stand and walk for extended periods.


• Balance: Including standing and walking on uneven surfaces while carrying stop/slow paddle and other flagging supplies as needed (lights, radio, etc.)


• Vision: 20/40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, moving equipment, vehicles, and obstructions.


• Hearing: Corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions.


• Heavy lifting: Lifting awkward parts (traffic barrels, signs, barricades, etc.) up to 50 lbs.
