Traffic Coordinator

Basic Job Functions:

The Traffic Coordinator role involves overseeing the end-to-end logistics process, from vendor management and strategic planning to performance analysis and continuous improvement initiatives. The Traffic Coordinator will also be responsible for collaborating with production, quality, commercial, and supply chain teams to ensure accurate and on-time product deliveries, addressing any potential challenges proactively. Developing and implementing robust logistics strategies that ensure on-time, efficient order fulfillment, consistently meeting or exceeding monthly KPls. Lead initiatives to enhance logistics efficiency, focusing on improving processes, reducing costs, and enhancing overall service delivery. Track and analyze logistics performance metrics, identifying key areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary. Manage relationships with external logistics providers, negotiating favorable rates, and ensuring high service standards. Build and maintain strong relationships with the sales team, providing timely updates on delivery schedules and resolving any issues to ensure satisfaction. Negotiate contracts with freight carriers, optimize rates, monitor budgets, and identify opportunities for market growth and cost savings. Data Analysis & Reporting: Maintain and analyze logistics data to assess performance, set goals, and track progress towards operational objectives. Handling carrier claims for rejected loads and building strong working relationships with carriers. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Understanding of and commitment to our Goal “To Take Care of Our Customer.”


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and Outlook.


• Previous logistics experience in a manufacturing environment.


• Previous experience working cross functionally across various departments.


• Willingness to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, including weekends, overtime, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.


• Proficiency in Carrierpoint and OTM


• Certifications in logistics or supply chain management


• Steel industry experience
