Traffic Engineering Project Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Traffic Engineer to join our team as we continue to grow our traffic engineering services group. This position offers an excellent growth opportunity for a talented engineering professional with a passion for assuming new challenges. The Traffic Engineering Project Manager will work closely with our Traffic Services Manager to provide leadership and mentoring of engineers and technicians, client management, and business development aimed to grow and expand our traffic engineering practice, and be responsible for technical design, project management, and quality control for a wide range of traffic engineering projects and assignments. This position can be based out of any of our offices in Wisconsin or Indiana; hybrid work arrangements and flexible scheduling is available. Remote options can be considered for candidates in Wisconsin, Indiana, or Michigan.

Areas of technical emphasis include: 

• Traffic Signal Design  
• Safety Analysis (existing conditions and predictive safety analysis)  
• Capacity Analysis  
• Transportation Demand Modelling using PTV (or similar) software  
• Roundabout Analysis and Design  
• Lighting Design a plus  
• Signing Design a plus 

Responsibilities include: 

• Traffic analysis and modeling services including; highway capacity and level of service analysis, operational and safety analysis, intersection and interchange alternative analysis, microsimulation modeling, freeway operations and system analysis, traffic impact analysis, incident management, roundabout capacity and operational analysis, and specialized traffic studies. 
• Traffic signal design services including; traffic data collection, traffic signal modeling and optimization, traffic signal system design, and traffic signal communication design. 
• Traffic forecasting and modeling services including; experience with MPO travel demand models, experience with WisDOT traffic forecasting process, traffic forecasting using ITE trip generation, and transportation planning projects and studies. 
• Roundabout analysis and design including capacity analysis, geometric layout, fastest path calculations, lighting, signing, and pavement marking considerations, and truck accommodations. 
• Lighting analysis and design including; photometric analysis, voltage drop calculations, lighting design layout and plan development. 
• Coordination of project assignments, oversight of the efforts of project staff, and development of successful client relationships. 

• BS in Civil Engineering 
• Registered Professional Engineer in WI and/or IN (or ability to obtain within 6 months) 
• 5-12 years of progressively increasing experience in traffic engineering (DOT, local communities, counties, and private sector client project experience preferred) 
• PTOE and/or RSP certification a plus 
• Traffic engineering software experience (HCM, Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, Vistro, Paramics, QUADRO, CORSIM, Agi32, and SIDRA) 
• WisDOT project experience preferred; experiences with counties, municipalities a plus 
• Strong technical written and oral communication skills: ability to communicate technical information at client and public meetings; ability to convey technical information in reports; ability to coordinate with clients and stakeholders effectively
