Trailer Mechanic

Reports To (Supervisor/Hiring Manager Title): Shop Supervisor

Onsite/Hybrid/Remote: Onsite

Position Overview/Job Description: The Trailer Mechanic at Taylor Express (a subsidiary of R&R Express) work to help ensure that we have a safe fleet on the road. This position will perform repairs and preventative maintenance on a variety of trailer types. 

Responsibilities:

• Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on all trailers in the yard or shop
• Repair, diagnose, and troubleshoot trailer issues when it comes to wiring, brake systems, wheels and tires, axles, etc.
• Replace worn out parts with new parts
• Perform DOT inspections on trailers
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: 

• Prior mechanic experience required, preferably on trailers within a dealership or private truck shop
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Current driver’s license and acceptable MVR
• English-language proficiency 
• Authorized to work in the US
• Ability to work 8AM – 5PM, Monday-Friday with overtime as needed

Education Requirements: High School Diploma required. Technical college or other higher education experience is preferred.

Salary/Hourly Rate: $20/hr. - $25/hr., depending on experience

Bonus/Commission Eligible: Overtime available at time and half of hourly rate
