Position Summary:

The Floor Level Trainer is a critical, hands-on leadership role responsible for the safety, onboarding, coaching, and upskilling of warehouse associates within the distribution center. Acting as a vital bridge between front-line operations management and the production floor, this position ensures the flawless execution of standard operating procedures (SOPs) while driving associate engagement and continuous improvement mindset.

The Floor Level Trainer will provide hands on training and leadership, spending 80–90% of their shift directly on the warehouse floor to cultivate a culture of safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement from day one.

Key Responsibilities

1. Safety, Compliance & Risk Mitigation (Top Priority)

  • Safety Championship: Serve as a flawless role model for all facility safety protocols, including proper ergonomic lifting, safe utility knife handling, and strict pedestrian awareness around Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT).
  • Real-Time Audits: Conduct daily safety and behavioral audits on the floor, immediately correcting unsafe practices and escalating systemic risks to leadership.
  • Incident Reduction: Partner with Operations Supervisors to identify root causes of near-misses or incidents, delivering immediate, targeted safety retraining to affected personnel.

2. High-Impact Training & Onboarding

  • New Hire Onboarding: Facilitate standard onboarding pathways for new associates, ensuring a seamless, welcoming integration into core operational functions (Receiving, Put-away, Picking, Packing, Shipping).
  • Shoulder-to-Shoulder Coaching: Execute real-time, side-by-side technical coaching, demonstrating the safest and most efficient operational methods.
  • Cross-Training Execution: Drive workforce flexibility by identifying high-performing associates and executing cross-training matrices across multiple departments.

3. Process Standardization & Quality Assurance

  • SOP Reinforcement: Teach, monitor, and enforce strict adherence to standard operating procedures to eliminate operational drift and variance.
  • Defect & Error Reduction: Analyze quality metrics (e.g., mispicks, sorting/packing defects) to identify struggling associates, deploying immediate corrective coaching to improve accuracy.
  • Change Management: Rapidly master and adopt new process rollouts or systemic updates, serving as the subject matter expert responsible for cascading changes to floor personnel.

4. Performance Tracking & Performance Feedback

  • Learning Curve Documentation: Maintain meticulous, objective records of associate training progression, time-to-fluency milestones, and formal process sign-offs.
  • Operational Feedback Loop: Partner closely with Operations Supervisors and Learning Managers, providing data-driven updates regarding new hire performance, behavioral traits, and operational readiness.

 Qualifications & Skills

Required:

  • Experience: 1–2 years of successful experience within a high-volume, fast-paced distribution, logistics, or fulfillment center environment.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, and guide team members on concrete floors for the entirety of an 8-to-12-hour shift. Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred:

  • Bilingual Capability: Fluency in English and Spanish is highly preferred.
  • Equipment Expertise: Active certification or experience operating Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) such as forklifts, center riders, or order pickers.
  • Technical Aptitude: Proficiency utilizing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), RF scanning equipment, and basic productivity software (Microsoft Excel, Word).
  • Labor management – Previous experience implementing and supporting a labor management system

Metrics for Success (KPIs)
