Job Description - Training and Volunteer Coordinator

JOB OVERVIEW


Are you passionate about creating and implementing engaging training curriculum about sustainable technology and managing a robust disaster response volunteer program? Footprint Project is seeking a Training & Volunteer Coordinator to join our small, growing team! This position will oversee the coordination, facilitation, administration, and documentation of our national training and volunteer programs. Footprint Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit disaster service organization headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana. We develop and deploy sustainable response technologies to community resilience centers after climate disasters in the U.S. Footprint Project works across the disaster management cycle to expand frontline access to mobile microgrids and reduce fossil fuel use. JOB DETAILS



  • Location: New Orleans, LA metro area or Asheville, NC metro area

  • Workplace Policy: Hybrid (mostly remote on a day-to-day basis with monthly in-person all hands meetings, additional in-person work as needed, and some travel required).

  • Job Type: Full-time exempt.

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday within the hours of 8am to 6pm local time for a total of approximately 40 hours/week. During the Atlantic hurricane season (6/1-11/30), employees may be asked to work outside of their normal hours. Time can be flexed after responding to disasters.

  • Travel: Approximately 10-20% travel required.

  • Compensation: Starting at $50,000 / year depending on experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Serve as the main point of contact for all disaster volunteers and our partners’ volunteer coordinators.

  • Track and record volunteer roster, hours, activities and other relevant data as needed per event, location, and year.

  • Plan and execute remote and in-person sustainable emergency response training events.

  • Coordinate emergency response volunteer efforts in-person and remotely during disasters.

  • Update the Volunteer Policy & Waiver as needed to ensure compliance with our employee handbook, local laws, and changing needs as we grow.

  • Supervise volunteers’ compliance with our Volunteer Policy & Waiver and as representatives of Footprint Project.

  • Create, conduct, and document the orientation, assessment or pulse check, and evaluation of disaster volunteer trainings and activations.

  • Oversee the production coordination with support from our Communications staff, training curriculum and content with support from our Technology staff, and distribution of online training modules to partner organizations

  • Maintain an organization system for online trainings

  • Track and update key training deliverables and report this data as necessary

  • Liaise with partner organizations on shared program initiatives

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • At least 2 years of experience in managing a large quantity of volunteers, students, or other groups across multiple verticals or fields

  • Evidence of successfully streamlining or scaling a volunteer program or training program

  • Demonstrated ability to develop complex training curriculum and materials and to effectively present to, educate, and mentor small or large groups of varied backgrounds and personalities

  • A natural, skilled facilitator and public speaker

  • Excellent oral communication skills and ability to take charge, especially when in crisis

  • Interested in sustainability, the environment, and/or humanitarian relief

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Knowledge of solar and battery technology is a plus

  • Bilingual in Spanish or advanced proficiency

  • Salesforce or other CRM software proficiency
