Pay: $150,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year

Note: An active California Bar license in good standing is required. Community association or HOA matters experience is preferred but is a soft-screen qualification, not a requirement.

Job Description

  • Advise homeowner associations, community association boards, and community managers on transactional and general counsel matters.
  • Counsel clients regarding Davis-Stirling Act compliance and other laws affecting common interest developments.
  • Interpret, revise, and restate governing documents, including CC&Rs, bylaws, rules, and policies.
  • Advise on board governance, elections, meetings, and association procedures.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents.
  • Advise clients regarding maintenance, repair, assessment, and community operations matters.
  • Assist with fair housing requirements, disability accommodations, and related legal issues.
  • Research legal issues and provide clear, practical recommendations to clients.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients and serve as a responsive legal resource.
  • Manage assigned matters while working collaboratively with attorneys and professional staff.

Qualifications

  • Active California Bar license in good standing.
  • Attorney experience in transactional, real estate, corporate, community association, or related legal work.
  • Community association or HOA matters experience is preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Excellent judgment and ability to provide practical legal advice.
  • Strong client-service mindset and professional communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
