JOB SUMMARY:
The Transit Dispatcher performs dispatcher functions, telephone calls, dispatching drivers on two-way radio to pick up customers, scheduling drivers for Sooner Ride trips, and when needed, assist the Transit Clerk with reports. Federal law requires all persons in this position be subject to drug and alcohol testing, background and driving record checks. This is a Safety Sensitive Position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Performs and maintains telephone call logs of customer request for transportation services and dispatches information to drivers by two-way radio communication in accordance with FCC (Federal Communication Commission) rules.
2. Performs data entry of trip sheets into Myleo-Net system.
3. Handles customer requests in a timely, courteous and professional manner keeping and maintain good public relations.
4. Assist Transit Clerk in the collection of trip data and statistics for transit routes and vehicles.
5. Schedules and confirms Sooner Ride trips.
6. Manage fare intake and card sales and record in receipt book.
7. Check trip logs for accuracy.
8. Cross check fuel receipts and prepare for filing
9. Perform other duties as may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIP:
The Transit Clerk reports directly to the Transit Clerk and has no supervision over other employees without authorization from the Transit Clerk or Transit Program Director.
OUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- General knowledge of spelling, punctuation, grammar, basic arithmetic and office procedures/practices.
- Skill in following simple, non-complex oral and written communications.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others in the office setting, in the field and with the public.
- Basic skill in operating most standard office equipment with reasonable speed and accuracy including a two-way radio.
- Aptitude to assimilate input and from it determine and develop a course of action as may be appropriate.
- Demonstrate knowledge of public transit vehicle driving and ability to deal positively and effectively with the public.
- Valid driver license and a good driving record.
- Be bondable.
- Able to pass a physical and pre-employment drug test.
- Abstinence from drug and alcohol use.
- CPR/First Aid Training and Certificate within the first 60 days of employment.
