We’re now seeking a dedicated Transit Maintenance Coordinator to provide essential support by performing a variety of duties related to fixing and maintaining bus stops, shelters housing units among other tasks. Compensation will reflect qualifications, with a competitive hourly pay range of $28.39/hr to $34.07/hr, DOE

Requirements

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is responsible for ensuring all facility-related work is completed effectively. Responsibilities include directly fixing and maintaining bus stops, shelters, housing units, and other facilities, as well as overseeing contractors tasked with such projects. 

Key duties include performing preventative maintenance, addressing minor repairs, coordinating and working with outside contractors for larger repair needs, and ensuring facilities remain clean and functional. Oversight of bus stop and shelter maintenance schedules is also a key part of this role. 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED 

Works the majority of the time independently but coordinates activities/work schedule with the Director of Transportation. 

SUPERVISION EXERCSIED 

May supervise third-pary contractors. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance schedule for bus stops throughout the county, ensuring regular sweeping, trash removal and cleaning. 
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance schedule for Core Transit’s Leadville bus barn, including scheduling periodic maintenance and inspections and coordination with contractors as needed. 
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and repairs for bus stops/shelters, housing units, and Core Transit’s Leadville bus barn. 
  • Manage and coordinate snow removal efforts at bus stops by engaging and supervising third-party contractors. 
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks at bus shelters, such as fixing benches, broken windows, and hanging up signage. 
  • Work with outside contractors for larger repair needs at bus stops and facilties. 
  • Conduct routine maintenance on county-owned housing rental units, addressing basic repairs like leaky faucets and non-functional lighting. 
  • Inspect and test smoke alarms and other safety devices in rental units to ensure compliance with safety regulations. 
  • Coordinate with external contractors for specialized maintenance and repair work required in housing units. 
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and repairs for both bus stops and housing units.Ensure all maintenance and repair work is completed efficiently and within budgetary constraints. 
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact. 

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES 

  • Ability to operate tools/equipment used in maintenance of vehicles, buildings, other facilities. 
  • Understanding of how equipment, machines, and systems work. 
  • Ability to identify and address issues and repair equipment, devices, and other necessary items. 
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures, including how to handle tools and other equipment. 
  • Ability to communicate and relay information when larger repairs are needed. 
  • Ability to diagnose, service, and repair minor maintenance tasks. 
  • Ability to perform simple mechanical tasks. 

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Graduation from high school or the equivalent. 
  • One or more years of experience performing facility and vehicle maintenance and repair work. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Must have a valid driver's license. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to lift, carry, push or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly, and up to 75-100 pounds occasionally. 
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, crouch, climb, reach, and kneel. 
  • Manual dexterity to operate equipment and perform other manual tasks. 
  • Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. 
  • Ability to speak and listen over the phone and in person. 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

The position works in a standard office environment working at a computer with most job duties performed primarily outdoors in a variety of terrains, under a variety of weather conditions, including sun, rain, wind, mud, and snow.  Duties are frequently performed working alone but may sometimes be performed as part of a work team.  Conditions at work sites may include falling objects, loose footings, loud noises, construction equipment, and working in right-of-way, traffic, or roadways. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate. 

Regular night and weekend work may be required, as well as call-out services as directed.
