POSITION SUMMARY:
The Emergency Food Distribution Network Plus (EFDN+) Program feeds those who suffer from food insecurity in San Diego and Imperial County by acquiring and distributing food through our network of parishes and other sites. The EFDN+ Transportation & Operations Aide supports the Emergency Food Distribution Network Plus (EFDN+) Program by ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient transportation, storage, and distribution of food throughout San Diego and Imperial County. This role is responsible for vehicle operations, warehouse and site compliance, inventory and documentation, food safety practices, and professional communication with staff, volunteers, donors, and partner sites.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and to get in and out of a vehicle. The employee frequently is required to walk; climb stairs; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/ or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/ or move up to 50+ pounds, and occasionally lift and /or move objects that weigh more than 100+ pounds using equipment provided. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position requires regular travel to warehouses, partner distribution sites, and donor pickup locations. The role involves routine physical activity, including lifting, loading, unloading, and moving food products and supplies. The Transportation & Operations Aide must maintain high standards of safety, compliance, dependability, and professionalism while representing the EFDN+ Program in the community. While performing the duties of this job the employee, may encounter at food distribution warehouses and sites moving forklifts and pallet jacks. When delivering commodities, the employee will travel throughout San Diego and Imperial Counties and be exposed to various weather conditions, such as rain and extreme heat and other hazards associated with road travel. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
