Transportation Construction Inspector - SSPC Certified Bridge Painting

The Transportation Construction Inspector - SSPC Certified (Bridge Painting) will oversee and inspect bridge painting projects, ensuring compliance with all project specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience with surface preparation, coating application, and inspection techniques in accordance with SSPC standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections of bridge painting and coating operations, ensuring conformance with project plans, specifications, and industry standards.
• Monitor surface preparation and coating application to ensure compliance with SSPC standards, including environmental controls, blast profile, DFT (dry film thickness), and cure times.
• Conduct adhesion and coating integrity testing (e.g., holiday testing, pull-off testing) and maintain detailed inspection records.

Requirements

• Minimum 5–10 years of construction inspection experience, with a focus on bridge painting/coating projects.
• SSPC/AMPP Certification (e.g., PCI Level III or NBPI – National Bridge Painting Inspector).
• Thorough knowledge of industry standards and specifications: (SSPC)
• Ability to interpret and apply contract documents, drawings, and specifications.
• Proficiency in using inspection tools (DFT gauges, surface profile comparators, hygrometers, etc.).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and reporting skills.
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to field locations.
