GENERAL SUMMARY 

The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the transportation plan in a multi-temperature foodservice distribution warehouse to meet customer requirements in regard to service, cost, driver performance and other established metrics. This is a hands-on role that requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. 

1. Coordinate and schedule transportation activities, including pickups, deliveries, and shipments. 
2. Communicate with carriers, suppliers, and customers to ensure timely delivery of goods. 
3. Monitor transportation costs and ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines. 
4. Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure proper loading and unloading of goods. 
5. Track and trace shipments to ensure on-time delivery and update relevant parties as needed. 
6. Resolve any transportation-related issues or delays in a timely manner. 
7. Maintain accurate records of transportation activities, including invoices, bills of lading, and shipping documents. 
8. Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and requirements. 
9. Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization. 
10. Train and supervise transportation staff, as necessary Perform other duties as assigned 

Requirements

Required Education and Experience 

• High school diploma (or GED equivalent) required. 
• Associate degree preferred 
• Proven experience as a Transportation Coordinator or experience in a similar role. 
• Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, including DOT and HOS requirements 
• Knowledge of Freight and Transportation Management Systems (TMS); preferably Aljex
