What You’ll Do
- Good communication skills in order to interact with residents, drivers, other team members and departments
- Good organizational skills to manage scheduling of shuttle and working with department schedulers on any changes or challenges that come up
- Ability to use a computer and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office functions
- Act consistently as a team player and encourage this trait in all drivers
- Practice safe driving skills at all times and model for all drivers
- Maintain a safe driving record
- Ensure residents are comfortable and safely secured
- Demonstrate knowledge of the mechanical wheelchair lift and vehicle safety features
- Maintain proper fuel levels in the vehicles and observe and report any mechanical or body defects on
- vehicles immediately to the supervisor
- Respond to scheduling requests within 24 – 48 hours
- Know the bus route to and from the designated site
- Report any incidents concerning residents to appropriate department staff and supervisor as appropriate
- Record any incidents in PEER in a timely fashion or other format as requested by insurance or management
- Keep vehicle clean
- Always keep an operating cell phone available during transport
- Abide by the organization’s code of conduct in the performance of their duties
- Works with Director of Campus Operations on hiring process for new drivers as necessary
- Perform other duties as required. Examples: on campus delivery of packages, meals, data entry, on the job training of new drivers, fluid checks and cleaning of vehicles, other customer service activities
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid PA Driver’s License
- CDL with proper endorsement required to drive a 23-passenger bus.
- Prior experience and safe driving record required
- Basic computer skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to role model professional appearance and demeanor
- Demonstrates respect, integrity, compassion, and excellence
- Commitment to person-centered care initiatives
- Conflict resolution skills and ability to coach and support staff
- Flexible schedule and willingness to work extra hours as needed
