Job Title: Transportation Operator 
Department: Specialty Mental Health
Location: Ukiah, CA
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: $20.00-$22.53 per hour (DOE) / Additional Differentials Must Qualify

Pay Differentials Offered (must qualify through testing or verification):



  • Language Translation - Bi-cultural Spanish: $1.00 per hour

  • Bimodal Bilingualism - ASL Sign Language: $1.00 per hour

  • Bimodal Multilingualism - ASL Sign Language: $2.00 per hour



Overview:


The Transportation Operator is responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation for children and youth receiving services through RCS. This position transports clients to and from scheduled RCS programs and appointments using an RCS-provided vehicle while following all traffic laws and safety guidelines. In addition to driving responsibilities, the Transportation Operator assists with basic clerical and logistical tasks that support daily office operations. This may include maintaining transportation logs, communicating with staff about schedules, and helping ensure vehicles are clean and in good condition. The Transportation Operator works under the supervision of the Program Supervisor and supports staff in making sure clients arrive safely and on time to their scheduled services. This role requires reliability, good communication, and a strong focus on safety and professionalism.


Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM


Key Responsibilities:



  • Safely transport clients to and from therapy appointments, ensuring they arrive on time and return safely to their designated location.

  • Assist clients entering and exiting the vehicle, ensuring all safety procedures are followed, including proper car seat use and seat belts.

  • Escort clients to their destination when required (e.g., signing clients in/out of school, walking clients to a residence and confirming an adult is present).

  • Communicate with the Receptionist or designated staff to review and adjust transportation schedules as needed.

  • Receive and respond to transportation requests for clients.

  • Safely operate agency vehicles in compliance with all traffic laws and agency policies.

  • Maintain agency vehicles by keeping them clean, fueled, and reporting minor maintenance needs.

  • Remain available during certain appointments when clients may need transportation to another location shortly afterward.

  • Assist with general facility upkeep, including basic tasks in common areas such as the kitchen, bathrooms, lobby, and shredding bins.

  • Provide occasional administrative support, including answering phones, greeting visitors, and assisting the Administrative Assistant when needed.

  • Run occasional agency errands such as delivering mail or picking up supplies.


Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Conditions of Employment:



  • May work across all agency programs as needed.

  • Occasional flexible work schedule required to meet individual client needs.

  • Must possess a valid CA Driver’s License, current auto insurance, and a clean DMV printout.

  • Must pass a clear background check with DOJ, CACI, FBI, CCL.

  • CPR and First Aid Certified.

  • TB Exam and Physical at the time of employment.


Driving Requirement:



  • Driving is a required function of this position.

    • Must possess a valid California driver’s license and have held a license for at least two (2) years.

    • Must maintain current vehicle insurance.

    • Must provide a clean DMV driving record (DMV printout).

    • Must remain knowledgeable about and comply with all California driving laws and regulations.

  • Comprehensive onboarding including CPR/First Aid, Crisis Communication/Pro-ACT, Trauma-Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, and Collaborative Problem Solving.
