Transportation Safety Assistant Director oversees and manages all functions in strict accordance with established policies and procedures. With a primary focus on compliance documentation, this role assumes responsibility for safety supervisor services within the Safety Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and lead comprehensive safety and compliance programs as the Safety Assistance Director.
Support Electronic Logs (ELD) by conducting daily audits, reporting HOS reports and violations, and processing reports for daily, weekly, or monthly summaries.
Implement preventative measures to reduce driver violations across all CSA BASICs and maintain compliance with CFR 49 DOT requirements for Control Substance & Alcohol policies.
Track roadside inspections, violations, and citations with CSA points imposed, staying abreast of all FMCSA/DOT rules and regulations, and communicating updates to the company and drivers.
Collaborate with the Safety & Compliance Director to reduce violations and prevent out-of-service situations.
Stay current on all safety and DOT regulations, providing clear direction and support to the Safety & Compliance team.
Maintain up-to-date Driver Qualification folders, monitor annual MVR, and ensure all DOT-regulated files are current and properly stored.
Implement a tracking system for drivers covering DOT, damage, and incident/accident records.
Promote changes in safety and DOT regulations, provide statistics reporting to identify trends, and monitor driver behavior, making recommendations for improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Understanding of and staying current with FMCSA/DOT regulations and guidelines.
Knowledge of safety standards, procedures, and best practices in the transportation industry.
Ability to lead and manage comprehensive safety programs and initiatives.
Experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating safety policies and procedures.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey safety regulations, policies, and procedures to employees.
Ability to articulate safety concerns, provide clear directions, and facilitate training sessions.
Proficiency in data analysis to identify trends, causes, and areas for improvement in safety programs.
Ability to utilize statistics and different forms of analysis to assess the effectiveness of safety initiatives.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Sit for most job duties, frequent walking including climbing stairs, and a moderate amount of standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting, and reaching.
Visual requirements include reading from a computer screen and printed materials.
High degree of dexterity due to frequent use of a telephone console.
Verbal and auditory requirements for clear communication over the telephone and in person.
Moderate grasping, lifting, pushing, and/or pulling of objects weighing less than 25 lbs.
