Transportation Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY: Supervise daily operations of the Transportation Shop.  Including: maintenance and repair of University Fleet Vehicles, equipment, trailers, and buses.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintaining fleet vehicles


• Supervising technicians


• Troubleshooting vehicle and equipment problems


• Determining vehicle rotation schedule


• Determining vehicle service and maintenance schedule


• Maintaining DOT and DMV paperwork on all vehicles and drivers


• Additional duties as assigned by manager

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of DOT regulations


• Basic knowledge of shop operations


• Basic mechanical skills


• Basic computer skills


• Effective oral and written communication


• Professional in appearance and presentation


• Personnel management skills

OTHER PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Drive motorized vehicles


• Work around machines


• Work above floor level


• Exposed to dust, fumes, gases


• Exposed to marked changes in temperature


• Work outdoors in varying weather


• Repetitive hand movement (firm grasp)- both hands


• Repetitive hand movement (grasp and pull) - both hands
