We are currently seeking a Transportation Supervisor to cover our Springfield, VA Hub.

The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for establishing and maintaining a smooth operation of the Transportation Department. Provides general supervision of all transportation drivers. Primary responsibility is to make sure that all teammates are on the job at the start of the shift or at the scheduled dispatch time.  Ensuring that employees adhere to safety standards on roadways and during the loading and unloading of cargo. This position involves the planning, directing, and coordination of all delivery and backhaul activities, and must keep product moving smoothly, accurately, and efficiently.

The Ideal Transportation Supervisor Candidate Will:

• Follow all Federal, State and Local regulations and HandCraft Safety Policies


• Ensure compliance by all Route Representatives with all Federal and State DOT requirements.


• Complete requisitions, interview and hire Route Representatives.


• Train Route Representatives in proper execution of the Handbook


• Ensure each Route Representatives executes their daily route delivery process as per HandCraft guidelines.


• Collaborate with Customer Relations Specialists, seek feedback and address areas of opportunity to improve Route Customer service,


• Schedule Route Representatives shifts and ensure all routes are covered for vacations and holidays.


• Maintain fleet in a safe manner to include maintenance and cleanliness of all vehicles.


• Ensure daily completion of all Route Representatives requirements including, but not limited to, DVIR, Bulk Counts, LinenMaster mobile application, etc.


• Collaborate with TRANSPORTATION SAFETY to ensure all drivers are properly trained and are executing all HandCraft safety policies and procedures.


• Be familiar with all routes and have the ability to cover drivers who are out on PTO or when a position is being backfilled.

Minimum Requirements:

• Previous management experience with strong leadership skills,


• Ability to use various computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite and Customer Relations Software packages,


• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities and able to deal with conflict.


• Ability to adapt to change and a rapidly growing customer base.                   


• Possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.


• Excellent problem-solving skills.


• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills


• Ability to lift and handle linen bags weighing up to 40 pounds on occasion.


• Ability to push and pull linen carts weighing up to 450 pounds.


• Ability to sit, walk, stand, and/or drive for extended periods of time.


• Understand and comply with all safety rules, regulations, and procedures.


• Comply with HandCraft and hospital appearance, uniform, and grooming guidelines.


• Must pass customer credentialing.
