What You'll Do

Responsible for a wide range of operational activities in the transportation and packaging arena primarily regarding hazardous material and waste. Responsible for determining proper United States (U.S.) Department of Transportation (DOT) classification and hazard communication requirements for off-site shipments; including, but not limited to, radioactive and hazardous materials, hazardous substances, and hazardous wastes. Consolidates and schedules shipment of materials and products with preapproved transportation services and coordinates movement of materials for shipping and receipt. Conducts carrier selection and may negotiate and monitor carrier rates and schedules. Audits carrier rates, charges, and contracts, and authorizes payments. Reconciles freight bills, prepares and negotiates claims, and selects or recommends carriers to ensure efficient, timely, and cost-effective movement of goods and materials. Responsible for all federal, state, and local, U.S. Department of Energy, and Pantex (PXD) transportation-related regulations and requirements.

Minimum Job Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.

  • Master's degree: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.

  • PhD: No minimum years of relevant experience required. 

  • OR Applicants without a bachelor's degree may be considered based on a combination of at least 13 years of completed education and/or relevant experience.

Preferred Job Requirements


  • Demonstrated ability in supply chain management (SCM) activities.

  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing [SAP] preferred).

  • Expertise in DOT hazardous materials and motor carrier regulatory programs.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

 

Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 709. Medical requirements may apply.
