Trauma Specialists of Pennsylvania Seeks Clinical Supervisor for Trauma Therapy Practice

Do you? 


❏ Hold a license as a clinical social worker or licensed professional counselor and have 5 years of experience within the last 10 years as a clinical social worker or licensed professional counselor   OR   hold a license and a master’s or doctoral degree in a related field and have 5 years' experience within the last 10 years in that field.


❏ Have the desire to treat trauma? We will train you in EMDR therapy and provide a refresher course if you are already certified.


❏ Approach all interactions in a compassionate, inclusive, self-motivated, ethical, reliable and relatable way? (A great sense of humor goes a long way, too!).

Key Responsibilities and Requirements


As a clinical supervisor you will guide and enhance the clinical learning path of a new therapist or intern.  It is an awesome job, and we are glad that you are interested in providing your support and expertise!


Clinical Supervisor Requirements:



  1. Clinical supervisors must have State approval to hold the supervisory role.

  2. Clinical Supervisors should plan to provide a minimum of 100 billable client sessions per month. Sessions are primarily on site with an option to provide 1-day of virtual sessions.

  3. All full-time clinicians can expect their schedules to include two evenings per week or one evening and one weekend day per week  

  4. Clinical Supervisors may supervise up to four supervisees.  

  5. Clinical supervisors will create supervision agreements with their supervisees, review, provide feedback, sign off on their supervisees’ documentation, and complete session notes promptly.  

  6. Clinical Supervisors attend Clinical Supervisors meetings 2x/mo (Wednesdays 12:30pm-1:30pm).  This is a place to bring questions, get some training, and share supervisory experiences with their peers.

  7. Clinical Supervisors attend training through the Trauma Specialists Training Academy (TSTA).  This ensures confidence in the modalities practiced at Trauma Specialists and awareness of what supervisees are learning as part of their training process.  

  8. Clinical Supervisors report to our Clinical Director.

  9. Clinical Supervisors use discretion in their role to ensure a safe and trusting environment for supervisees to learn and grow in their role. 

  10. We encourage Clinical Supervisors to pursue EMDR Certification, since supervision at Trauma Specialists relies heavily on being able to support clinicians with EMDR therapy.

  11. We fully support Clinical Supervisors who are interested in sharing their expertise through training. There are opportunities to facilitate training through TSTA, EMDR Circle, or additional staff training.  

  12. Clinical Supervisees must support, and reflect through words and actions, our mission of Cultivating Growth and seeking to always interact through the lens of inclusion, empowerment, and excellence.


Trauma Specialists will provide:



  1. Support and training.

  2. Access to clinical leadership and peers for support and guidance.

  3. Access to the Trauma Specialist Training Academy to brush up and boost confidence on skills, as well as get a feel for what TSTA participants are learning

  4. Free access to the EMDR Circle to boost EMDR confidence and training


Clinical Supervision Expectations:


Clinical Supervision refers to the relationship of a provisionally licensed therapist/master's level clinician and an approved fully licensed therapist.  The purpose of this relationship is to train the provisionally licensed therapist/master's level clinician on how to think clinically, case conceptualization, as well as all of the pertinent functions of operating independently as a therapist.  Legally and ethically speaking, clients of provisionally licensed therapists are also considered clients of the supervisor.


 


Supervisor Roles and Responsibilities:



  1. To review cases and notes with the supervisee.

  2. To provide interaction that allows the supervisee to learn to think clinically on their own.

  3. To meet regularly with supervisees.

  4. To intervene when a crisis scenario comes up with a client, either by coaching the provisionally licensed therapist through it or in some cases, taking over the case temporarily.

  5. To evaluate the clinical and administrative responsibilities of the provisionally licensed clinician to determine readiness to operate independently.

  6. To gain feedback from the supervisee about any clinical needs or areas of support needed.

  7. To show respect to supervisees.


Supervisee Roles and Responsibilities:



  1. To present all cases on a regular basis to the clinical supervisor for review and discussion.

  2. To complete all treatment notes in a timely manner (day of session).

  3. To follow the clinical guidelines and interventions the supervisor encourages for improved client care.

  4. To be a learner, understanding that this phase of professional development is for learning and gaining new knowledge and skills.

  5. To recognize the legal and ethical responsibility of the supervisor, and follow all requests with the understanding that the clients are ethically and legally the supervisors responsibility.

  6. To interact in a professional, respectful manner.

  7. To gain feedback from the supervisor about areas of clinical strength and areas of needed growth and improvement.


Benefits:



  1. Healthcare benefits are available to Full-Time clinicians and include medical, dental, vision.  Healthcare benefits are available on the 1st of the month after the 60th day of employment. 

  2. Supplemental benefits such as short-term disability, long term disability, and life insurance are available to Full-Time clinicians on the 1st of the month after the 60th day of employment.

  3. Discounted Pet Insurance.

  4. 401k match after 1 year of employment.

  5. Full time clinicians receive 40 hours of Paid Sick Leave annually, prorated as of the hire date.

  6. Full time clinicians receive 90 hours of unpaid leave annually. 

  7. Clinicians are eligible for a $200 monthly bonus for seeing 100+ clients per month.

  8. Full time clinicians receive an annual $1000 wellness stipend, broken out over 24 pay periods.
