Who We Are Looking For

The Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (TF-CBT Therapist) provides specialized therapeutic services to foster children, foster families, and birth families residing in or connected to Monroe Harding’s programs. This role is central to the emotional healing and stabilization of youth impacted by trauma, particularly those within foster care. In addition to structured TF-CBT sessions, the therapist facilitates family engagement, crisis interventions, psychoeducational groups, and therapeutic support tailored to the unique needs of each family and child. The therapist supports clients in building resilience, restoring relationships, and achieving developmental, educational, and emotional milestones.

Responsibilities of the Therapist

· Deliver TF-CBT to foster children and their caregivers (foster and birth families), including individual, conjoint, and family sessions.

· Conduct comprehensive trauma assessments, diagnostic intakes, and treatment planning.

· Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.

· Facilitate trauma-informed psychoeducational groups and family support sessions.

· Collaborate with case managers, Monroe Harding and DCS staff, and external providers to ensure coordinated care.

· Provide crisis intervention and safety planning as needed.

· Offer consultation and training to staff on trauma-informed practices and TF-CBT principles.

· Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case reviews.

· Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and professional standards.

Requirements

  

What we expect in Therapist at Monroe Harding

Education and Experience 

· Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.

· Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, preferably with foster youth and families.

· Licensed or license-eligible in Tennessee (LCSW, LPC-MHSP, LMFT).

· Experience with underserved populations and trauma-informed modalities required.

· Familiarity with DBT, motivational interviewing, and family systems therapy is a plus.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

· TN Licensed or on licensure track.

· Valid Tennessee Driver's License.

Qualifications Required

· Demonstrated commitment to trauma-informed care and family-centered practice.

· Strong understanding of child development, attachment, and the impact of trauma.

· Ability to engage diverse family systems with empathy and cultural humility.

· Skilled in de-escalation, crisis response, and therapeutic rapport-building.

· Effective communicator with strong documentation and organizational skills.

· Flexible, collaborative, and resilient in high-pressure environments.

· Must be certified or actively pursuing certification in TF-CBT.

Applicants must pass thorough background check and drug screen. Must have valid Tennessee driver’s license.
