TravelNurseSource is working with Lark Medical Staffing to find a qualified Med/Surg RN in Alliance, Nebraska, 69301!
About The Position
2nd floor, 25 private-bed unit - (23 beds of floor, 2 Medical Decision Unit beds)
Patient population: COPD with exacerbation, CHF, heavy emphasis on swing bed (average stay is 12 days) to keep patients local and care for patients with amputations, wound care, long term antibiotics, ect.
There are some post partum and pediatric patients on this unit.
Ratio: 1:4, with 1:5 being a stretch.
Charge Nurse available on every shift and does not take patients.
Central telemetry monitoring, with two portable tele monitors. Social Services available on floor with 3 Case Managers.
There are typically 1-2 Nurse Aides or Unit Clerk available.
In-house Pharmacy until 11:00pm M-F, remote Pharmacist through UNMC overnight and weekends.
Lab 24/7 and will handle blood draws.
Excellent Therapy services with patients being seen several times a day.
Charting:
Meditech Expanse; Pumps: Alaris
Minimum of 2 years experience working in ER department required.
This is a firm requirement as they need experienced nurses.
Licensed as Registered Nurse in State of Nebraska or compact state; BLS, ACLS, PALS and TNCC are required.
BLS, ACLS, and PALS must be issued through American Heart Association.
Experience with doing blood draws would be preferred as RN may need to draw blood in trauma situations.
Dress code:
Navy blue scrubs
12 hour shifts:
6:45pm-7:15am and 6:45am-7:15pm.
May work 12:00pm-12:30am occasionally to fill in as needed.
Will work every third weekend.
Orientation:
Held every Wednesday, consisting of three days of classroom orientation and one shift with preceptor.
Minimum of 2 years experience working in Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit.
Previous experience working in Critical Access Hospital required.
BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association) required, PALS is preferred.
May float to ED, but only function as “task” nurse.
Scrubs:
Navy Blue
12 hour shifts:
6:30am-7:00pm and 6:30pm-7:00am.
Manager adds travelers to the schedule after BBGH staff has completed self scheduling.
Orientation:
Held every Wednesday, consisting of three days of classroom orientation and one shift with preceptor.
