Job Description - Traveling Automation Tech

Is it time for your career to pivot toward the open road and high-tech challenges?
If you're the kind of technician who thrives on variety, craves independence, and prefers a wrench in one hand and a multimeter in the other this is the role for you.

Position Overview:

Were searching for a Field Service Technician with a mechanical mind, electrical instincts, and the readiness to hit the road. This isn't your average 9-to-5. You'll be jetting across the country, installing and servicing precision automation systems inside some of the most fast-paced and quality-driven manufacturing environments out there.

Whether you're a seasoned field tech, a gearhead looking to pivot into automation, or a road warrior with wiring skills this is your chance to step into a high-impact role where every week brings a new challenge.

What You'll Do:

  • Travel to customer sites across the U.S. to install, maintain, and support advanced electromechanical systems

  • Diagnose and repair electrical (120/240V AC & low-voltage DC), pneumatic, and mechanical equipment

  • Interface with PLCs, sensors, motors, vision, and barcode systems

  • Deliver top-tier customer support both onsite and remotely during on-call rotations

  • Write trip reports, recommend spare parts, and document service records

  • Collaborate with engineering by reporting recurring field issues and suggesting improvements

  • Manage time logs and travel expenses in compliance with DOT standards

What You Bring:

  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills (mechanical, electrical, or both)

  • Comfort with diagnostic tools, multimeters, and basic wiring practices

  • Solid communication and professionalism in customer-facing environments

  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 (email, spreadsheets, service docs)

  • Willingness to travel 9095% of the time and work independently

Preferred Experience:

  • 2+ years in field service, maintenance, automotive repair, or tech trades

  • Experience with PLCs, vision systems (Cognex, Keyence), or industrial automation

  • Previous exposure to high-travel roles or military technical service

  • Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs and working extended hours on your feet

  • Valid drivers license and eligibility to obtain a passport

Backgrounds That Fit Well:

  • Automotive Technicians and Heavy-Duty Mechanics

  • Industrial Maintenance Technicians

  • Field Service Engineers

  • Controls or PLC Technicians

  • Traveling Equipment Installers

  • Military Technicians (electrical/mechanical specialties)

Why This Role?

Because you're not built for the cubicle. This role gives you the freedom to move, the satisfaction of hands-on problem solving, and the pride of representing a high-performance product line across the U.S. You'll earn points, gain exposure to advanced systems, and have a clear path toward senior or engineering roles all while doing work that truly matters to our customers.

If you're ready to pivot from routine repairs to nationwide impact this is your ride.
