Traveling Food Service Worker Substitute

We are seeking a dependable, flexible, and hardworking Traveling Food Service Substitute to support our K-12 school food service operations. This position provides coverage at various school locations as needed and assists with daily kitchen operations, food preparation, meal service, cashier duties, and cleaning. The ideal candidate is adaptable, reliable, and comfortable working in different school environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with daily kitchen food preparation, including preparing cold meals and helping the cook portion and tray hot meals.


• Serve students in the cafeteria lunch line and operate the cash register/POS system as needed.


• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and cafeteria during and after lunch service.


• Wash dishes and complete other cleaning and sanitation duties as assigned.


• Receive deliveries and assist with putting away food, supplies, and inventory.


• Provide support to the food service team and assist with various duties as needed.


• Travel between assigned school locations to provide coverage where needed.


• Adapt to different kitchen routines, assignments, and staffing needs.


• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.


• Dependable, punctual, and flexible with availability.


• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between school locations.


• Ability to follow directions and work well as part of a team.


• Willingness to perform a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment.


• Positive attitude and friendly, student-focused approach.


• Ability to adapt to changing daily assignments and fill in where needed.


• Previous food service or kitchen experience preferred.


• Must be able to obtain required clearances and documentation to work in a school environment.
