Location: Various rock crushing quarries in Arizona and Nevada (relocation as needed) 

Industry: Rock Crushing - Surface Mining - Decorative Landscaping Materials

Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Mobile Heavy Equipment Operator with proven experience operating CAT 982M Loaders, Dozer D8s, and Excavator 349Es. This position requires the ability to relocate to various rock crushing quarry sites across Arizona and Nevada as operational needs dictate. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of assigned heavy equipment in a rock crushing environment, surface mining focusing on the extraction and processing of decorative landscaping materials. As a Traveling Operator, you will be expected to build upon your existing skills, learn new equipment, and contribute to the overall productivity and safety of the plant.

Essential Job Functions:

Equipment Operation (Proficient and Expanding Skills):

  • Proficiently operates at least one type of heavy equipment used in our landscape rock quarries, specifically the CAT 982M Loader, Dozer D8, and/or Excavator 349E, following established procedures and strict safety protocols.
  • Will be assigned to operate different types of equipment (including the aforementioned) as skills and experience progress, demonstrating a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Demonstrates safe and efficient operation of equipment, contributing directly to achieving production targets and maintaining quality standards.
  • Actively observes and learns from experienced operators to continuously improve operating techniques and master the operation of additional heavy equipment within the fleet.

Plant Maintenance and Support (Basic Tasks and Support):

  • Assists with basic plant maintenance tasks under the direct guidance of experienced mechanics or supervisors, potentially including lubricating equipment, cleaning components, and performing basic pre-shift and post-shift inspections.
  • Actively contributes to maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the plant area to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Promptly reports any equipment malfunctions, unusual noises, or potential maintenance issues to the supervisor or mechanic to prevent downtime and ensure equipment longevity.

Production Support and Improvement:

  • Works independently on routine equipment operation tasks, adhering to established procedures, production schedules, and supervisor instructions.
  • Identifies minor areas for improvement in personal work efficiency and proactively communicates these observations to the supervisor for potential adjustments to workflows.
  • Collaborates effectively with other equipment operators and plant personnel to ensure a smooth and efficient flow of materials and optimal equipment utilization throughout the quarry.

Safety Procedures and Training:

  • Continues to strictly adhere to all company safety protocols, MSHA regulations, and site-specific procedures while operating equipment and working in and around the quarry environment.
  • Actively participates in additional safety training programs and meetings to stay informed on the latest quarry safety      regulations, best practices, and emergency procedures.
  • Serves as a positive safety role model for new Operator 1 trainees, demonstrating a commitment to safe work practices.

Communication and Learning:

  • Maintains clear and concise communication with the supervisor regarding task progress, any equipment-related issues encountered, and updates on production.
  • Proactively asks questions and actively seeks opportunities to learn from experienced operators and supervisors about more complex equipment operation techniques, maintenance procedures, and overall plant operations.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • May be required to perform general labor tasks around the quarry as directed by the supervisor.
  • Maintains a positive and professional attitude, demonstrating a strong work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities.

Key Focus: Skill Development and Plant Familiarization

As a Traveling Operator 02, your primary focus will be on consistently developing your proficiency in operating a variety of heavy equipment, particularly the CAT 982M Loader, Dozer D8, and Excavator 349E. Simultaneously, you will be expected to expand your understanding of overall quarry operations and basic plant maintenance practices. Your dedication to learning and safe operation will be crucial for your growth within the company and your potential to advance to more complex roles with greater responsibilities.

Requirements

  

Summary: Experienced Traveling Heavy Equipment Operator (Operator 02) needed for rock crushing quarries in Arizona and Nevada. Must be proficient in CAT 982M Loader, Dozer D8, and/or Excavator 349E, with a willingness to relocate, learn new equipment, and assist with basic plant maintenance while prioritizing safety.

Key Requirements:

· Proven proficiency in operating at least one of the following heavy equipment: CAT 982M Loader, Dozer D8, Excavator 349E. 

· Willingness and ability to relocate frequently to various rock crushing quarry sites in Arizona and Nevada. 

· Demonstrated commitment to adhering to all safety protocols and MSHA regulations. 

· Ability to learn and operate different types of heavy equipment as skills progress. 

· Experience in a surface mining or similar heavy industrial environment is preferred. 

· Ability to perform basic pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections. 

· Willingness to assist with basic plant maintenance tasks under supervision. 

· Strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude. 

· Good communication skills and a proactive approach to learning. 

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
