Like Michael, one of the newest members of our operations team, as a Traveling Production Technician at Vertosa, you’ll have the opportunity to put your manufacturing skills to the test as you support production in multiple states. You’ll be boots on ground using cutting-edge technology to drive the development of a new consumer product category poised to rival the mainstream food and beverage industry. As someone who can tackle any task and troubleshoot unexpected equipment issues, you’ll produce the active ingredients infusing the most innovative products in the cannabis and hemp industry. Although you’ll often work autonomously in the field, you’ll be supported by a collaborative team that embraces change, faces challenges head-on, and invests in your personal and professional growth.




In the first year, you will have the opportunity to:


 



  • Execute production per company policies and procedures to ensure product integrity at Vertosa headquarters and independently at partner locations throughout the US and Canada.

  • Perform quality control tests on ingredients, product samples, and finished products to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Support fulfillment and logistics in collaboration with other departments and external partners to ensure on-time delivery and issue resolution.

  • Perform basic chemical research and assist in the analysis of retrieved data.

  • Assist with and execute testing, calibration, and preventative maintenance of lab equipment.

  • Support the development of best practices and formal SOPs for production and logistics, including those involving ingredients, packaging, and lab equipment.

  • Aid in the collection and analysis of production data to optimize operations.

  • Travel 25 - 50% of a given month to execute production at partner locations in the US.


To be successful as a top-performing technician, you will bring:




  • Based in the Bay Area as of the start date for this role.

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience. 

  • 5+ years of experience in laboratory science, cannabis production, or food manufacturing environments requiring frequent physical activity, including lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a high-paced environment.

  • Strong understanding of basic analytical chemistry terms and tools.

  • Experience with lab equipment management, troubleshooting, and repair required.

  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs. individually and up to 200 lbs. with the assistance of others.

  • Availability to travel up to 2 weeks at a time with sufficient notice to the continental US and Canada.

  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to rent and operate a vehicle in the US.

  • Valid US passport to support regulatory registration in US markets.

  • Physical copy of U.S. Social Security card to support employee badging in US markets.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present scientific information clearly and concisely.

  • Must be a passionate champion for cannabis, although Vertosa does not require cannabis consumption for any employees.
