About the Role
We’re looking for a Traveling Project Manager to plan, lead, and coordinate the overall management of Heavy Civil Infrastructure projects from preconstruction through closeout. This position is assigned to active project sites and requires relocation to project locations throughout the Southeast based on business needs. Current and upcoming project assignments include Clarksville, AR; Meridian, MS; Monroe, LA; and Bridgeport, AL, with relocation to the next project site upon completion of each assignment.
The Project Manager works in close partnership with the Superintendent and Project Management Team to execute the full scope of services as defined in the contract documents while achieving project safety, quality, schedule, and profitability objectives. This role provides strong leadership, financial and contractual oversight, and ensures seamless coordination between field operations, clients, and stakeholders.
Core Responsibilities
Project Leadership
Create cost efficiencies through planning, process improvement, and proactive problem solving.
Support and drive utilization of company initiatives and technologies.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the project through immersion in contract documents, drawings, schedules, and scopes of work.
Establish overall project strategy for execution, procurement, subcontracting, logistics, and schedule management.
Align project teams around clear goals for safety, quality, schedule, and financial performance.
Project Controls Execution
Lead project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
Manage subcontractor procurement, buyout, and contract administration.
Coordinate closely with Superintendents and field leadership to ensure work is executed in accordance with plans and specifications.
Ensure compliance with safety programs, quality control plans, and environmental requirements.
Proactively identify and resolve constructability, schedule, and resource challenges.
Documentation and Reporting
Oversee preparation and maintenance of project documentation including contracts, submittals, RFIs, change orders, cost reports, schedules, and progress reports.
Analyze project performance metrics and financial reports to drive informed decision making.
Team Development and Client Management
Build, coach, and develop high-performing project teams.
Uphold brand standards and reinforce RNGD’s core values and manifesto, leading by example.
Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, designers, and key stakeholders.
Proactively manage client, employee, and subcontractor relationships to ensure positive project experiences.
Represent RNGD in industry and community engagements as appropriate.
Financial and Risk Management
Manage project budgets, cost controls, cash flow, and change management.
Identify project risks early and implement mitigation strategies.
Ensure efficient workflows and use of enabling technologies to support successful project delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
6+ years of project management experience in Heavy Civil or Infrastructure construction. • Strong understanding of civil construction means and methods. • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. • Proven ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. • Thorough knowledge of scheduling, cost control, estimating, procurement, and contract administration. • Ability to read and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and project schedules. • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex technical and commercial issues.
