Job Description - Traveling Sterilization Technician/EPDH Assistant

We are seeking a Traveling Sterilization & Clinical Support Technician to support our school-based dental program. In this unique role, you will travel with an Expanded Practice Dental Hygienist (EPDH) to schools throughout the community, helping provide accessible preventive dental care and treatment to children. 


This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, being out in the community, and having a role where every day may look a little different. You will be an essential partner to the EPDH, helping prepare each school location for care, maintain sterilization and infection-control standards, support efficient patient flow, and ensure equipment and supplies are ready throughout the day.


 


Key Responsibilities 


 



  • Travel with and provide day-to-day support to an EPDH delivering dental services at schools and other community locations  


 



  • Assist with transporting, setting up, breaking down, and organizing portable dental equipment, instruments, and supplies  


 



  • Prepare treatment areas before students are seen and reset areas between patients  


 



  • Clean, disinfect, package, sterilize, and properly store dental instruments and equipment  


 



  • Follow established infection-control, sterilization, OSHA, HIPAA, and safety protocols  


 



  • Prepare instruments and supplies needed by the EPDH for scheduled treatments  


 



  • Help maintain an efficient flow of students through the school-based dental program  


 



  • Provide a welcoming, positive, and supportive experience for children receiving dental care  


 



  • Assist with organizing students and coordinating with school personnel as needed to support the day's schedule  


 



  • Monitor and maintain adequate levels of clinical and sterilization supplies  


 



  • Maintain clean, organized portable equipment and treatment areas  


 



  • Assist with loading and unloading equipment and supplies at each location  


 



  • Support documentation and other administrative activities associated with school-based services as appropriate  


 



  • Communicate supply, equipment, scheduling, or operational needs to the EPDH and program leadership  


 



  • Serve as a reliable partner to the EPDH and help troubleshoot day-to-day needs in a mobile clinical environment

*** This position will provide dental care in schools within Salem, OR and the surrounding communities.

Qualifications:





    • Strong interest in working with children and supporting community-based healthcare  



    • Dependable, organized, flexible, and comfortable working independently alongside an EPDH  



    • Ability to work efficiently in changing environments and adapt to different school locations  



    • Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills  



    • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to infection control and patient safety  



    • Ability to transport, set up, and break down portable dental equipment and supplies  



    • Dental, healthcare, sterilization, or clinical support experience preferred  



    • Valid healthcare provider CPR/BLS certification preferred  



    • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel to school locations required

    • Bilingual a plus
