About the Role 


We’re looking for a Traveling Surveyor II that will work with our Infrastructure division's Surveying Team to coordinate and perform layout and surveying needs across multiple construction projects. This role requires technical expertise in surveying, precision in execution, and the ability to mentor and support junior team members while ensuring adherence to safety standards and project requirements.


 


Core Responsibilities



  • Survey and Layout Execution

    • Perform layout and survey-related activities on multiple projects daily.

    • Operate and maintain GNSS, Robotic Total Station, auto level, and other surveying instruments.

    • Set up and check in machine control linked equipment (GNSS and RTS).

    • Utilize construction drawings to provide layout and cross-check calculations prepared by office personnel.




 



  • Documentation and Quality Control

    • Keep accurate, legible, and complete documentation of all tasks performed.

    • Ensure accuracy and precision in layout and survey work to support overall project quality.

    • Cross-verify calculations to avoid errors in project execution.




 



  • Collaboration and Coordination

    • Coordinate with Superintendents, Foremen, and Subcontractors regarding project schedules and surveying needs.

    • Assist with traffic control and project signage as required.

    • Contribute to seamless project delivery by ensuring layout and surveying align with operational goals. 




 



  • Team Development and Mentorship

    • Train and mentor team members in surveying practices and equipment usage.

    • Support a culture of continuous improvement by sharing expertise and best practices with the Surveying Team.




 


Preferred Qualifications



  • 2–5 years of construction layout or land surveying experience in a supervisory role.

  • 5 years of experience in the construction industry.

  • Expertise in multiple civil and commercial construction types, including heavy & light roadway, aboveground & underground utilities, industrial, piling, bridges, and building foundations.

  • Proficiency in Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry.

  • Proficiency with Trimble (Siteworks) or equivalent, MS Office, and Procore.

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Must have reliable transportation.
