We are seeking a skilled Treasurer to join our team to assist in our financial operations, including trust accounts, in compliance with BAR rules.

JOB SUMMARY:

The job responsibilities of this position include all tasks associated with overseeing the firm's financial liquidity, banking operations, and treasury-related risk management. This key role involves managing daily cash positioning, developing cash forecasts, optimizing banking relationships, and administering partner capital accounts. A critical component is ensuring meticulous compliance with all Georgia State Bar rules for IOLTA/client trust accounts. The ideal candidate possesses 5+ years of progressive treasury experience, strong analytical skills, proficiency with financial systems, and ideally, experience within the legal or professional services sector.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage daily cash positioning, ensuring adequate liquidity for operational needs across all firm bank accounts (operating, payroll, trust, etc.).
• Develop and maintain accurate short-term and long-term cash flow forecasts.
• Optimize the use of firm funds, including managing short-term investments in compliance with firm policy.
• Oversee bank account administration, including opening, closing, and maintaining authorized signers.
• Ensure strict adherence rules and regulations regarding client funds and IOLTA.
• Oversee the accurate recording, reconciliation, and reporting of all client trust account activity.
• Work closely with accounting and billing teams to ensure proper segregation and handling of client funds.
• Serve as a key resource for attorneys and staff on trust accounting procedures and compliance.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all banking partners.
• Manage and negotiate banking services, fees, lines of credit, and other credit facilities.
• Monitor bank service levels and resolve any issues promptly.
• Evaluate and recommend new banking products or services as needed.
• Assist in the development of the firm's annual budget and long-range financial plans, focusing on cash flow implications.
• Analyze cash flow trends, variances to budget/forecast, and provide insights to management.
• Coordinate with accounting to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of partner draws and distributions.
• Identify and mitigate financial risks, including interest rate, and counterparty risk.
• Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls over treasury operations, cash handling, and banking activities.
• Prepare regular treasury reports for management and the Executive/Finance Committee (e.g., cash balances, forecast summaries, compliance status).
• Collaborate effectively with the Controller, accounting team, billing/collections, HR, IT, and firm partners.
• Performing other duties and responsibilities as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

This job does not require supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required, a Master’s degree is a plus.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in corporate treasury, finance, or accounting roles.
• Prior experience within a law firm or professional services firm is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of IOLTA regulations and client trust accounting principles is highly desirable.
• Proven experience in cash management, cash forecasting, and banking relationship management.
• Strong analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the firm.   
• High level of integrity, ethics, and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 and familiarity with banking platforms and treasury management systems.
