Tree Groundsman

Halter is seeking a motivated Tree Groundsman to join our Tree Services division. This role is essential in supporting arborists and climbers in the safe and efficient completion of tree care operations. This position is ideal for someone interested in developing professional arborist skills and building a long-term career in the tree care industry.

Reports to:

Operations Management 

 Responsibilities:

• Assist arborists and climbers with tree pruning, removals, and general tree care operations


• Perform ground-based duties including brush dragging, chipping, log handling, and site cleanup


• Operate and maintain equipment such as chainsaws, wood chippers, and stump grinders in accordance with safety standards


• Support rigging operations by handling ropes and lowering devices as directed


• Maintain safe and organized work zones, including awareness of overhead hazards and drop zones


• Assist with traffic and pedestrian control when necessary


• Follow proper arboricultural practices and safety procedures at all times


• Conduct routine inspection and basic maintenance of tools and equipment

Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation


• Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions


• Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds regularly


• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn


• Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team


• Prior tree care, landscaping, or outdoor labor experience preferred but not required


• Chainsaw experience is a plus


• Willingness to pursue arborist certifications and ongoing safety training
