Job Summary
The Branch Warehouse Delivery Driver is a skilled functional position that is proficient in execution of all delivery operations while upholding Jaeckle Core Values. This position requires a strong understanding of all major delivery functions including reviewing loads before dispatch, driving in a safe manner, unloading at customer docks, good customer service, and route evolution. As an experienced delivery professional this role ensures operational efficiency, accuracy, safety, and DOT compliance.
The Branch Warehouse Delivery Driver is expected to deliver across Jaeckle’s Wisconsin and Illinois territory, ensuring adherence to operational requirements within the warehouse and DOT compliance on the road. Strong and professional communication skills are essential to the success of this role.
Reporting To
Warehouse Manager
Hours
To be determined based on operation and route needs. Typical dispatch can be anywhere from 5am to 8am, as necessary to make the deliveries. Home daily, no exceptions. Very limited weekend work and typically on a voluntary basis. We do not work most major holidays.
Job Responsibilities
General
- Uphold Jaeckle Core values and ensure all warehouse personnel adhere to company core values, operational standards, and compliance requirements.
· Maintain Hour of Service records via electronic logs, or, if electronic logs are not available, manual logs/trip records must be used.
· Communicate any/all issues with trucks, tools, or electronic units immediately to Manager.
- Take required rest periods during trip.
- Maintain proper CDL A license for equipment that is used and keep this up to date.
- Maintain proper DOT Medical Qualifications.
- Maintain professional and effective communication with all personnel across warehouse operations, including warehouse associates, shipping/receiving staff, customer service, and customers entering the facility.
- Meet and greet customers to build relationships and relay customer feedback to manager and dispatcher.
- Review loads for proper stacking, packing, and strapping orders in vehicles to prevent damage and ensure safe handling and transportation of product.
- Provide feedback on customer locations, other stops, and routes to dispatcher daily while identifying opportunities to improve customer and Jaeckle driver experience.
- Utilize software and other tools provided by the company as prescribed by your supervisor and other administrative employees.
- Ensure all stops are logged in company provide driver log tools.
- Dress appropriately and maintain a professional appearance.
- Excellent attendance is mandatory.
- Ability to work overtime as needed by the operation.
- Verify material being delivered matches BOL.
- Get goods to customer on time.
· Use company appointed technology to track HOS and delivery stops in real time.
Loading & Unloading
· On occasion, assistance may be need at the warehouse to load and/or unload material.
· Help assist customers with unloading material and placing it where the customer is requesting.
· Pick up customer returns and safely transporting them back to the warehouse. Collect and return all necessary paperwork.
· Trained to use pallet jacks both manual and battery powered.
Safety
· Follow proper incident reporting procedures.
· Pre trip inspections completed daily.
· Monitor and report maintenance issues with equipment
· Follow all applicable traffic laws.
· Uses discretion in unloading materials upon arrival to destination based upon safety guidelines. Report unsafe conditions to manager for further instruction.
- Take special precautions while driving and avoid distractions including phone use, and food consumption.
Education/Certifications
- Current Class A CDL with up-to-date DOT registration and medical qualifications
- A least 1 year of commercial driving experience preferred but will consider recent graduates or equivalent driving experience in the military
- Must pass a multi-panel drug screen and maintain drug free DOT compliance
- No more than 3 moving violations in the past year
- Forklift certification required (trained in house)
- Manual and Automatic Transmission
- Military experience a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to perform physical tasks which include the lifting and moving of 50 lbs. or more and pulling/pushing product loads weighing from 250 lbs. - 1,000 lbs. with assisted equipment.
- Mobility to frequently bend, lift, stand, and get on and off vehicles multiple times each shift.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to prioritize daily workload ensuring work is correct and complete.
- Superior ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with colleagues.
- Ability to perform basic math with high accuracy add, subtract, multiply, divide.
- Understanding and knowledge in operating warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and scales.
- Excellent active listening skills to fully understand instructions, ask clarifying questions, and engage in effective problem-solving.
- Proficient in safe material handling practices including and proven experience in handling stone products.
